She purses her lips making me wish I could kiss her. “Kill? No, absolutely not. But poison with some Ex-lax?” Her eyes widen while she shrugs. “It would be even worse if they gave him syrup of ipecac at the same time.”

I shake my head. “That’s just plain wrong to do to a man.” Funny, definitely, but just damn wrong.

She raises her hands at me, “All I’m saying is that it isn’t wise to piss off a highly hormonal woman. Especially one who has a devil on both shoulders egging her on. It can get messy for him.” Her smile appears sweet until you look closely and realize there’s a little evil behind it.

I raise my eyebrow and smirk, “Do you happen to be one of those devils on her shoulders?”

“Nope.” She pops the P purposely. “I’m purgatory. I just watch, listen, and enjoy.” Yeah, the woman she once was compared to the woman we’ve been seeing are totally different. I sure as fuck like this feisty one even more. Even if she has a little evil in her.

I help her from the truck, making me realize that I’m never putting foot rails on this thing, and set her down before we start walking to the garage. I would just go straight to my office, but both Xander and Jax are out front. I can feel her shrink back a bit when she spots them making me sad. Baby steps.

“Is this the new Kealy?” Xander asks when we get close. “The old one isn’t fun anymore.” He crosses his tattooed arms over his chest and pouts. I feel Cadie immediately relax beside me, which is ironic considering he has his overalls pulled down and tied at his waist, showing off his wife beater. Neither of them are small men, and both are covered from head to toe in ink.

Cadie stands beside me while eyeing him before she snaps her fingers with a smile. “Oh, you’re the one who likes to play children’s video games, Xander right?” Jax and I chuckle at the look of loathing on his face.

His eyes narrow at her and I beam with pride when she doesn’t back down. “I see the pregnant demon as already gotten to you,” he sniffs, “I was told you would be sweet, quiet, and kinda skittish around me.”

I’m about to reach out and smack him when I hear a tiny giggle. “It’s kind of hard to be skittish around a man who’s on borrowed time,” she replies looking him dead in the eyes.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” he huffs while side-eyeing her.

She’s gives him the world’s fakest smile making me chuckle. “I’m sure you’ll find out sooner or later.” She shrugs.

“This is some bullshit,” he grumbles. “First dad, then Edge, and now you.” His eyes narrow on mine. “None of you can find women are nice?”

“I really don’t think we’re the problem,” Cadie retorts without missing a beat.

Xander shakes his head. “Nu-huh, I’m not talking to you, tiny demon.”

“Tiny demon?” she scoffs and places her hands on her hips.

I look over and see Jax watching all of this in amusement. When he catches my gaze, he smirks with a raised eyebrow in Cadie’s direction. I shrug and shake my head. I have no clue either man.

“Yeah, I have a pregnant demon and now a tiny one to deal with too,” he moans.

Cadie tilts her head. “What kind of demon is Dee?” Hmm, good question.

Xander laughs. “That woman isn’t a demon, she’s straight up the fucking devil.”

We all laugh because he isn’t necessarily wrong.

Cadie tsks at him while shaking her head. “I wouldn’t let her hear you say that.”

“Please,” he scoffs, “she’d be happy to hear that. It would be a fucking compliment to her.” He shakes his head before pushing off the wall. “Anyway, I just wanted to see what kind of trouble you were bringing in here.” He looks at me with a smirk. “But some of us actually have to work around here.” And with that he turns around and walks back into the garage.

Although now that he mentions it, it is oddly quiet. I haven’t heard any tools banging on shit. I give Jax a questioning look.

Jax shakes his head and rolls his eyes. “Some of the guys went out last night and are still sleeping off the results. We’re the only two here right now.”

I chuckle ruefully, “Oh, to be young enough to party on a weeknight.”

“Stupid is what it is. They need to grow up and act like they have responsibilities,” he growls but I understand his frustration. This is probably going to set them back. Both Jax and Xander hate anything that costs them time and money.

“Eh, they’re young and dumb,” I goad him because I can’t help myself.

His eyes go squinty. “And what would you do if it was one of your crew?” He crosses his arms and leans back.

“Me?” I give him a feral smile. “I would’ve gone to their houses and dragged their sorry asses from bed. They can puke in a garbage can for all I care. You two are too nice.”
