I can feel his thrusts get quicker but sloppier, making me realize how close he is as well. He keeps up that pace until I see the muscles in his neck go tight, and he growls out my name.

We both stay like this, with him above me, panting for some time until we are able to catch our breath. He rolls over and takes me with him, so that I’m laying on his chest. It’s something I’ve come to cherish very much. He never lets me go after we’re done and I love every second of it. The way his hand is making tiny circles on my back is lulling me to sleep.

My eyes fly open as my phone starts ringing from the living room, making me groan in displeasure. I’m so comfortable right now, and all I want to do is sleep, cuddle up to the furnace under me.

I make a halfhearted attempt to move when Marrow’s arms tighten around me. “Leave it,” he growls. “Whoever it is can wait until mornin’.”

I nod my head, his words giving me out; I don’t have to get up and answer it now. I close my eyes again and sigh happily until my phone starts ringing again. I continue to ignore it until it goes off a third time.

“It might be important,” I mumble, thinking it damn well better be. My whole body feels like jelly. Someone better be dying.

I slip from Marrow’s grip and crawl out of bed. I pick up and pull on his discarded shirt. I smile to myself as it comes down past my knees. I walk out of the bedroom and start down the hall just as my phone starts ringing again, making me frown. It really must be something important if they keep calling me like this.

I reach the living room just as the ringing stops. I locate my phone on the floor by the couch where I left it earlier. I bend down and pick it up, swiping the screen to see who called. My eyes bulge when Kealy’s number appears over and over again. I’m about to hit the button to return her call when she starts calling me again.

I automatically hit the answer button. “Hello?” My voice is cautious. She wouldn’t be calling me this many times for no reason.

“You need to get to the hospital right now and bring Marrow with you,” she growls, her voice sounding inhuman.

“Are you okay?” I gasp. I hope nothing bad has happened to her or the baby.

“I’m fine. In labor, but I’m good.” Her voice is strained and I imagine she’s probably in a lot of pain.

“That’s great!” I chirp happily. “I’m so excited for you.”

“Don’t get too excited. I may be going away for murder soon.”

I blink and then blink some more. “Did you kill Edge?” I ask slowly, trying not to panic. I know she’s been a little crazy lately, but I never thought she would actually kill him.

“Not yet.” Her words aren’t very reassuring. “But he lost his fucking mind the second I told him I was in labor. He’s been nothing but a useless mess, blundering around making everything worse.”

“Ummm.” Because what do you really say to something like that. I rub my foot against my other foot. “Why do you need us to come to the hospital. Isn’t it usually just family?”

Her snort is loud making me jump. “Edge doesn’t talk to his mother, my dad is in Florida, and Mac is basically restraining Dee from bludgeoning Edge with something. You two are all the family that we have right now.” I may get a little teary-eyed hearing that.

“Awe, that’s so sweet. I’m so honored.” I sniffle a bit.

“Don’t be,” she grits out. “If you don’t bring his best friend down here to calm this asshole down, I’m going to shove a speculum so far up his ass that it comes out of his mouth. And I’ll make sure that fucker is open wide before I shove it in.” Her voice is downright vicious, not something I’ve ever experienced from her before. Yikes, Edge is in trouble.

“Okay,” I take a deep breath, “got it. Just text me the information and we’ll leave in five minutes.”

“Thank you.” She sighs in relief. “I really didn’t want to kill my husband before he gets to meet his kid,” she says before the line goes dead.

I pull the phone away from my ear and stare at it blankly before I shake my head and run back to our bedroom.

I skid to a stop, “Get up, we have to get to the hospital,” I shriek somewhat as I frantically search for clothes to wear.

I pull open the closet doors, walk in, and flick on the light. I should probably wear something comfortable. People always talk about being in labor for hours.

“Sprite, what are you talkin’ about?” Marrow’s muffled voice carries across the room.

I grab some leggings and a shirt off the hangers before walking out and towards the dresser to get a bra and panties. “Kealy is in labor and apparently Edge is useless.” I pull out some black panties and toss the clothes currently in my hands onto the floor; before putting on the bra and panties.

“No shit,” I can hear the smile in his voice. “I’m gonna be an uncle tonight?” From the corner of my eye, I can see him hop out of bed.

“An uncle yes, but you might be without a best friend if we don’t get to the hospital soon for you to calm Edge down. Kealy has an extremely gruesome and painful death that she’s currently planning for him,” I say as I pull on my panties and then hook my bra.

“Aww, shit, he fucked up, didn’t he?” He chuckles and shakes his head ruefully, still fully naked, making me stop what I’m doing and just stare at him. He really is a magnificent sight to behold between all of his muscles and tattoos. Not to mention the way his dick is starting to look hard again. “Cadie, as much as I appreciate you lickin’ your lips while staring at my dick, we need to get going.”
