“You really think none of them could find a different place to work? JT and Mel would have people fighting over them for their talent,” I chuckle darkly. “Hell, Xander has been trying to poach Cadie for his shop because he and Jax are shit with the business side of things.” I shake my head. “Nah, man, they stay because of loyalty, because you’re their family, the only one they’ve ever really had despite how dysfunctional ya’ll are.”

His eyes narrow. “What do you mean X has been tryin’ to poach Cadie?” he asks, voice low.

“Out of everything I just said, that’s what you fuckin’ focus on?” I ask in disbelief.

He waves a hand in the air and rolls his eyes. “I heard everything you said, but that was the most important. Why the fuck does he think he can have her?” His eyes narrow on mine. “You better not be putting that bullshit in his head to have her closer to you during the day. I’ll fucking kill both of you. I’m not going back to doing all of that shit myself.”

“Love you too, brother,” I drawl. This asshole.

“Fuck love,” he hisses as he leans forward with his hands on the table, “everyone at my shop will burn that shit to the ground without her. I can’t live like that again. I won’t. You two fuckers will be a distant memory if it ever comes down to that.”

I raise my eyebrow. “You really think I would help him take her from you?”

He mimics my pose. “You really think I don’t know what you’re willing to do for that woman?”

“Touché,” I mutter with a grin. “Feeling better?”

He nods his head slowly. “Yeah, thinking about possibly planning a murder or two has calmed me down nicely.” I’ve never once stated that we were normal.

“All right.” I smack the table and stand with a groan. “Then let’s get off these horrible ass chairs and go back to your woman so she can stop plotting yours.”

He stands and we begin to walk from the cafeteria and back towards the room. He gives me a side glance. “How bad was my death going to be?” he asks calmly, almost pride-like.

I glance over at him with a smirk. “Gruesome enough to make you proud.”

He nods his head with a smile. “That’s my girl.”

“Michayla Myra Stanton,” Cadie whispers down at the tiny bundle in her arms. “It’s pretty, but I don’t get the name choice.”

It’s been a few long hours, that thankfully Edge got through with ease, after my little pep talk. Unfortunately, Kealy made Cadie and I stay in the room in case “Edge lost his fucking mind again”. The two of us made sure to stay as far away from the bed as possible and stayed near Kealy’s head. I love that woman like a sister, but there is some shit I just don’t need to see, ever.

I look at Edge in question. “I have to agree brother; it’s a pretty name, but I don’t get it.”

His lips twitch and he shakes his head. “Don’t look at me. The name choice was all Kealy.”

She gives us a tired, but radiant smile. “I’m the one who had to do all of the hard work. Of course, I should choose the name.”

I scratch the side of my beard. “Yeah, but Michayla Myra?” The first name is cute, but that middle one.

“Halloween is my all-time favorite movie.” She shrugs carelessly.

Cadie starts giggling, making the little girl in her arms bounce around, but still not waking up the precious bundle. I’m guessing my sweet little niece is tired from actually being forced to leave her little cocoon to come into this crazy-ass world. “That’s genius.” Cadie’s tinkling voice is filled with humor.

“I still don’t get it,” I reply.

Cadie looks at me with a big smile that makes my heart stop. The combination of her smile as she holds Michayla is making me want something I haven’t thought about for a long-ass time. “The main character in Halloween is Michael Myers,” she giggles.

I blink a few times and then look at Kealy with wide eyes. “You named your kid after a horror movie serial killer?” I ask slowly.

“Well, if we had a boy, he was going to be name Michael Audrey Stanton, exactly like the movie. But we had a girl... so.” She shrugs again, looking very pleased with herself.

“Why didn’t you use the same middle name then?” Audrey seems a lot better than Myra.

Kealy rolls her eyes at me. “Because then no one would figure out the connection.”

I’m about to say something when Cadie shakes her head and passes me Michayla. “I wouldn’t say anything. Hormones are not something you want to fight with right now,” she tells me seriously.

I take the precious little girl into my arms, knowing that I’ll do anything in the world for this girl. I cradle her as best as I can and am realizing why Edge was so freaked out about dropping her. Jesus she’s tiny. She could easily slip through my arms. “Well, at least the hormones will go back to normal soon.”
