No bullshit Jax responds, “What’s Cadie’s story?”

“What do you mean?” I ask knowing damn well what he actually wants.

“Don’t think I forgot about her comment the first time I met her. How she’s had worse than a broken hand.” His eyes are hard and his fists are clenched.

I look over and see Xander looking the same. For all of his goofy-ass act, that’s all it really is. If he likes you, he’ll act like an asshole around you. But make no mistake, he wasn’t voted in as VP because he’s so sweet. He’s loyal to those he cares about and has very few morals when it comes to protecting them. Whether she knows it or not, she earned his friendship the day she met him and started giving him shit. He respects someone who will go back at him, which is why he adores Kealy so much. Those two women mean more to him than he’ll ever let them know. which is why Edge and I let him get in his little licks at them. We know if push came to shove, he would kill someone to protect them.

I sigh, “Her ex is an abusive asshole.”

“We figured that part out already,” Xander drawls.

I pinch the bridge of my nose to try to ease the headache I can feel brewing between my eyes. “She hasn’t said much and I don’t ask too many questions. If she doesn’t want to relive those memories, I’m okay with that. But it was pretty bad if the scars on her body are anything to go by. Honestly, there are so many of them, I’m surprised she made it out alive. And judging by how jagged some of them are, I’m guessing that he wouldn’t let her go to the hospital to get stitches. Some of them look as though they’ve healed pretty badly,” I growl out in anger as I mentally catalogue the long list of scars running over her body. The fucker made sure that they were in places that could easily be covered with clothing.

“Where can we find him?” Jax asks in a voice that’s too calm. The type of calm you get when you’ve shut off your emotions. The type of calm you have when you plan to kill someone in cold blood.

I’m about to respond when my computer dings with an email. I click on it and see that it’s from my old buddy I had asked to do some digging on the fucker. I smile grimly when I read through it all. “Funny you should ask that because I just got an email detailing his whole life for me.”

“Gotta love when Karma helps ya out,” Xander chuckles evilly. He rubs his hands together, “Don’t be greedy, turn the screen around and show us.”

I do just that and the next time I look at the clock it’s been three hours. “Fuck, it’s late already,” I say as I stand for the first time in hours, my whole body protesting.

They both get up and stretch as well. “Time flies when you’re having fun,” Xander chirps merrily. Can’t really blame him, I’m downright cheerful myself, as long as everything goes according to plan.

“Don’t you two fuckers work?” I ask knowing damn well how hard they actually do.

“That’s what we have minions for,” Jax replies making Xander and I stare at him. “What?” His tone and look accusatory. “Don’t act like you’ve never seen that movie.”

“No, it’s a fuckin’ kids’ movie,” Xander scoffs.

Jax gives his brother a lazy glare. “That’s rich coming from the man who buys and plays video games meant for kids.”

I chuckle as Xander gets red. “I’m goin’ to kill Kea. It was an honest mistake.”

“You keep tellin’ yourself that, brother. Maybe one day someone else will start to believe it too,” I state while shaking my head.

I’m not sure what it says about us joking around and having a good time after planning someone’s demise for hours, but it’s probably best not to dwell on that.

“Ya’ll are such assholes,” he sniffs. “I’m so fuckin’ unappreciated around here.”

“You and JT been hangin’ out a lot lately?” Jax questions making me chuckle.

“Fuck off, both of you,” X growls before storming out of my office much to my and Jax’s amusement.

We both look at each other with matching smirks and shake our heads. “All right, I’m gonna head home and wait for Sprite.” I hold out my hand which Jax claps before giving me a slap on the back.

“Sounds good; see ya later,” he says while we both walk out of my office.

He continues to his own shop as I lock up everything. I walk to the parking lot and see that it’s already dark outside. I straddle my bike and realize that I should stop and pick up something for dinner so that Cadie doesn’t have to worry about cooking anything. She can just eat and pass out when she gets home. Even if my dick protests that idea, it’s what she needs.

And eventually, I’ll have a carefree woman who has nothing to worry about, especially once Edge gets back to work. Soon I’ll make sure all of her previous problems are finished once and for all.

It’s the least I can do for the woman who owns my heart and soul, even if they are a bit blacker than most.

IlookoveratJake from my spot at the kitchen table and just glare. He’s been overly cheerful the past few days. Not that I’m complaining about him being in a good mood. I love that he’s happy, especially since he shows my body exactly how happy he is. I’m just a little pissy since every time I ask him about it, he gives me a secretive smile and tells me that I’ll find out soon. Hrmph, if I wanted to wait, I wouldn’t have asked him more than once.

Okay, fine, I’m grumpy because I got my period last night and that means no fun, sexy time with my big bad biker for a few days. My vagina is pissed, especially since my ovaries are acting like it’s trying to purge everything from body as painfully as possible. I seriously don’t understand why my body can’t just send me a text that saysCongratulations, you’re not knocked up! Talk to you next month!I will never understand why women have to go through so much pain and bullshit, especially if we’re not pregnant. This is crap!

All I want to do is sit around in my pajamas and eat chocolate frosting out of the bowl, dammit. But I can’t even enjoy that now since, I can’t make that frosting without thinking about using it in more enjoyable scenarios.
