This entire family is insane, they have to be. I mean sure, my sisters and parents can act a little wonky, but these people take the cake.

Without realizing it, I managed to finish off my wine during this bizarre conversation. I barely register that it’s empty before Dee is pouring more in. “Tsk, can’t have your glass being empty. No one will ever accuse me of being a bad host.”

“That’s probably the only thing you’ll never be accused of,” Xander mutters.

How Xander ignores the glare he receives, I’ll never know. If that was me, I’d be crying and begging for forgiveness. “I swear, with that attitude of yours, you’re never going to find a woman to put up with your ornery ass long enough to give me grandbabies. Dammit, Alexander, I am not getting any younger,” Dee hisses, but there’s a glint in eyes, a very unsettling one.

“You have enough of them, you evil demon,” Xander growls.

“Did you really just call her an evil demon?” I whisper yell, my eyes wide and fearful that I may witness a murder.

“Oh, pay him no mind,” Dee eyes Xander like he’s gum on the bottom of her shoe, “I sure as hell don’t. Plus, he’s just grumpy because I like using his full name, instead of that abbreviated nonsense.”

“We both know that you only use it to piss me off. You never have a problem calling Jax, Jax.” If I didn’t know any better, I would swear that she’s actually his mother. The way these two argue, definitely gives off those vibes.

“Eh,” she shrugs her shoulders, “his full name is spelled stupidly. It makes more sense touse theabbreviated version.”

“I’m standing right here Dee,” Jax mumbles, oddly, not in an unkind way, huh.

“And even if I did use his full name,” she continues on like Jax said nothing, “he wouldn’t get his panties in a bunch the way you do. I swear, you are anovergrownman child some days.”

Xander shakes his head and sighs. “Are you ever going to stop being a pain in the ass?”

“Of course, dear, when you start giving me grandbabies.” She smiles sweetly…too sweetly.

“Again,” he eyes her warily, “you will not be allowed within fifty feet of my kids.”

“And just why the hell not?” Dee growls and tries to get off ofMac'slap. He must havelightningquick reflexes, because his arm was securely around her in seconds.

“Because you nutcase, I’ve met all of your grandkids. Most of them will probably be taking over Hell someday.”

“It’s good to have goals, Alexander,”shestates, while sipping her wine. How is she not sloshed? She looks over at me with a frown. “Come with me dear, no need to subject yourself to this gigantic grump.” She gets off ofMac'slap and holds out her hand to me, ya know, the one not holding onto her wine like it’s a lifeline.

“Ah, umm, okay," Isay and get up a lot more wobbly than when I sat down.

“Lovely. Let’s leave these boring fools and go do some of those spice cinnamon shots all you young people love.”

“Ummm.” I look back with frightened eyes and only see smirks as I’m dragged behind Dee, who seems to be on a mission to get drunk. “Help,” I whisper and only get chuckles in return.

This can’t be good.

“Oh my god, I think I’m going to die,” I say into my pillow, trying to keep any and all light away from my eyes.

“I told you not to have those last few shots,”ismurmured from right next to me.

I screech and jump about a mile into the air. What the fuck?

I look around wildly and notice a few unsettling things. For starters, I have absolutely no idea what room or bed I’m in. Second, there is a very large, masculine body next to me. And finally, I have no memory at all after my first “spicy shot”as Dee called them.

The body next to me rolls over onto their side and I’m greeted with an extremely sleepy looking Xander. I don’t know how to feel about that. I mean, I guess it’s better than waking up in some strangeman'sroom, so there’s that. I also belatedly realize that he’s still fully clothed, jeans and all. The only thing missing is hisvest andboots.

I look down at myself and see that I’m pretty much the same, except I don’t have socks on.

“What happened last night?” I know what didn’t happen, and I won’t be exploringthat pang of regret anytime soon.

He gives me a panty melting smirk, all sleepy eyes and full lips. “Dee happened,”he chuckles.
