“What’s messed up?” Bri asks from the doorway making me look over my shoulder at the sound of her voice.

I give her a smile and a wink. “Edge is just wishin’ someone even worse than Dee on Jax.”

She shakes her head with a small smile. “I don’t think that’s possible," shepauses while looking thoughtful. “Well, as long as I never introduce him to my sister, because she is definitely a younger version of Dee,”shegiggles. “He would go running for the hills.”

I look back at Edge and see the same look reflected in his eyes that are probably in mine…glee. “I’ve got to meet this woman,” I say in excitement. “I might finally have a best friend who is actually fun and who can piss my brother off.” I’m already figuring out ways to make this happen.

“Absolutely, not!” Bri exclaims.

“What?” I whip my head in her direction. “Why not?” I frown at the woman who unwittingly owns me.

“I will not be subjecting Jax to Dani. He has been nothing but nice to me. I could not have that on my conscience,”shereplies, making me narrow my eyes at her.

“How do I get in contact with her?” Edge asks. “I’ll do it and won’t feel bad at all.”

She drops the bag she was holding onto the ground and places her hands on her curvy hips, making my mouth water. “What is wrong with you two?” She shakes her head when we go to reply. “That was a rhetorical question,”she states, pursingher lips. “There is way too much wrong with you two to ever get to the bottom.”

“That’s a little harsh,” I mumble while Edge just shrugs, completely unperturbed.

“Harsh?” She raises a perfect eyebrow.Perfect eyebrow? What the fuck man?“You want to subject your sweet brother to my crazy sister. There is most definitely a lot wrong with you.”

“Sweet?” I half scoff, half choke out. “Jax?” I look at her questioningly before looking at Edge to see if he’s hearing this shit. He’s looking at Bri like she’s lost her damn mind.

“You drunk?” Edge blurts out.

She crosses her arms and leans against the door. “He is sweet,” she ignores our incredulous snorts, “in his own sort of way.”

Edge and I,look ateach other beforeglaring atBri like the obviously insane person that she is. Good thing I like a little crazy. “Right.” I cough into my hand. “Definitely sweet in his own way.”

“Whatever,”shemutters while giving us both an annoyed look. “I’m still not letting my sister anywhere near him. I could never be mad at him enough to do that.”

“Buzzkill,” I grumble.

“Has it ever occurred to you, to not piss off the people in your life?”shequestions.

“No.” I shake my head. “Why the hell would I want to live my life bored as hell?”

“Because it would make people less likely to let you get hit by a bus?" shesmiles sweetly.

“I’d pull you out of the way,” Edge states with a mischievous grin. “I’d just wait until the last possible second.”

“You’re such a good friend,” I drawl.

“I know,” he nods his head seriously.

I just shake my head and look back over at Bri. “You got everythin’ you need?” I ask as I stand from the chair and stretch my arms upwards, trying to get out all of the kinks in my back.

“Huh?” Bri asks distractedly.

I look over at her and smirk when I see her eyes glued to my stomach where my shirthas riddenup. I lower my hands and pull my shirt all the way down. I have to stop myself from chuckling when I see her shake her head. “I asked if you packedeverything’ you needed.” How I keep the mirth out of my voice, I’ll never know. I look over at Edge and see him hiding his grin behind his hand.

“Oh, um, yeah,”shestutters, before clearing her throat. “I have my bag right here.” She looks down at her feet to the bag.

“Alright, man, we’re outta here,” I say to Edge, as I give him a chin lift.

“Later,”hereplies, before looking at Bri. “I’m sorry about this Bri. It should be fixed in a few days.” He looks apologetically at her, the lying prick.

She gives him a small smile and shrugs. “It’s okay. It’s not your fault. These things happen.” Yeah, when Edge is involved, not that I’m going to be complaining any time soon. Jesus, I’m just as bad as he is.
