She doesn’t look fazed in the least by his tone. She just rolls her eyes at him. “How about by saying that you guys would never do anything to harm her and would be nothing but respectful to her boundaries?" shehuffs in clear annoyance.

He throws his hands up. “That’s obviously a given. I mean hell, we treat Jenny like a sister. She even makes out like a bandit for her birthday, Christmas and Valentine’s Day.”

I blink a few times. “You give a teenage girl Valentine’s Day presents?” That doesn’t really seem appropriate.

Xander looks at me and nods his head. “Of course, we all do.”

“Ummm," Ignawon my lip, unsure of how to phrase this.

Thankfully Cadie giggles and shakes her head at me. “It’s not what you think.” She looks at Xander with a smirk before lookingat meagain. “They’re not creepy pedophiles or anything like that.”

“What the fuck?” Xander hisses. “Why the hell would you think that?” His eyes are boring into mine making me wish I could disappear under the counter. Not that it would really help since it’s glass, but still.

“Because you give an underage girl presents?” I sayquietly.

“You have to admit, that without any context, it sounds bad Xander.” Cadie giggles, obviously enjoying his outrage. Truthfully, it makes me feel better seeing how offended he is over it.

He pauses for a minute and takes a deep breath. When he looks back at me, his voice is low and calm again. “So, we started sending her stuff for Valentine’s Day so that she wouldn’t be impressed by some single rose or cheap candy bullshit that some hormone ridden fucker lookin’ to get his dick wet would give her.” All I can dois blinkand stare at him. There was a lot to take in from that one sentence. But he just keeps going. “She’s had a few of those idiots come sniffin’ around, so we told her dad what we all planned to do. He seemed to think it was a great idea, shrugs.

I look over when I hear Marrow laughing. “Fuck, he sent us all whiskey and beer as a thank you.” His whole body is shaking. “Do you remember the big ass grin he had on his face when he sent us that picture in front of everythin’ we sent her. He looked fuckin’ ecstatic.”

“That was some good ass whiskey.” Edge nods in agreement.

My eyes go wide. “You all sent gifts to her house?” What in the world?

They all shake their heads no, but Xander is the one who speaks. “Nah, we had it all sent to her at school that way all those little bastards could see that she’s too good for them and their pathetic gifts.”

“That poor girl,” Cadie mumbles and I nod my head in agreement.

The three men turn to her with matching frowns. “What do you mean? She gets spoiled as hell.” Xander huffs. Men, they really don’t get it.

“You’re making it almost impossible for her to find a boyfriend. No teenage boy can compete with all of that,” Cadie says slowly, like she’s talking to small children. Considering that they’re men, it’s not that far off.

“No shit, number two. That’s the damn point. None of them are good enough for our Jenny,” Xander says gruffly. My poor tattered heart gives a sad little thud at his obvious affection for this girl who probably wants to strangle him. And I have no doubt that she probably thinks about it often. These guys are making her a pariah when it comes to getting a date. My teenage self would’ve been livid, even if I realize how sweet it is for them to care that much.

“You really can’t think it’s okay to scare boys away from her.” Cadie crosses her arms and shakes her head.

Xander purses his lips that are thicker than any mans should ever be. Men really do get all the good features, including long eyelashes, the lucky jerks. “Yes,” he hisses. “None of them are good enough for her. No use wasting her time on pathetic little shits. She can date when she’s thirty.”

“She’s going to kill you at some point,” Cadie drawls, but it’s the truth. He’s going to meet an unfortunate end at the hands of a pissed off teenage girl.

Xander waves a hand in the air in dismissal. “Nah, the worst she’s ever done is throw something at Jax when he got rid of a pissant who stopped by one day.”

“Did she get mad, possibly, because she really liked him and wanted his attention?” Cadie asks oh so slowly.

Xander shrugs,“Doesn’t matter. She doesn’t need to be hung up on the captain of the football team. That fucker can get his rocks off somewhere else. I’m sure he wasn’t even phased.”

“She’s going to poison you all," Iwhisper without meaning to. But it’s the truth. This poor girl is going to lose it one day and no woman is going to blame her. They really are making her an outcast when it comes to dating.

He rolls his eyes at me. “You’ll see when you meet her. She’s the sweetest girl in the world.”

“X is right,” Marrow growls. “That little fucker had beady eyes that roamed all over her. Jax did her a favor.”

The three men all nod their heads in agreement. I wonder if I should start planning an alibi for her now? She’s probably going to need it at some point.

Cadie purses her lips and shakes her head at him. “When you start throwing up'randomly'I don’t want you coming to me complaining. You’ll only have yourself to blame,” she huffs.

Marrow gives her a smirk. “Sprite, Jenny doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. That girl is incapable of being mean.”
