“I know. I sent her home. Shouldn’t have brought her in the first place. I was pissed off when I found out about Nate, so I thought it might be fun to get your hackles up. There’s nothing sexier than seeing you fit to be tied.”

She won’t look at me.

“You thought I was leaving with Nikki?”

Oh, come on. She knows better. How could she think I wasn’t leaving with her tonight?

I reach for her hand and glance above her head to nod at the valet. He hustles off to get my car.Smart kid.Threading my fingers through hers, I lead her toward the valet pickup.

“We need to talk. Now. I’m done playing this game.” This ends tonight.

My car pulls up, and I hand him my ticket and a fifty.

“Lonan, I think—”

“Get in.”

The valet opens the passenger door, and she climbs in, pulling the remainder of her gown in before the door closes.

“I just want to talk,” I say.

When she clicks her seatbelt, her perfume fills the space, and I inhale as casually as possible. My eyes meet hers one more time before I pull away from the curb. There’s no sign of protest.

“Where are we going?” she asks quietly.

I don’t know yet, so I don’t answer. When I see a vacant-looking parking garage, I enter and drive up each level until I reach the rooftop. Relieved to find it empty, I take off my seatbelt.

When I turn off the car, I grip the steering wheel tight. Now or never.

Her sultry voice breaks the silence. “What are we doing here?”

“We’re making up.” I unbuckle her seatbelt and haul her into my lap.

The slit in her dress spreads open, and I reach up to stroke her thighs, reveling in the feel of her soft creamy skin. She straddles me and presses her forehead to mine. A tear falls, and I brush it away.

“Do you still love me?” she asks. How could she ever ask me that? It hurts to think she could ever doubt my love for her.

My throat feels thick, and my voice comes out gravelly. “I could never stop loving you.”

A relieved laugh cuts off her sob, and gentle hands bracket my face.

“I love you, Lonan.”

The exhale that leaves my lips takes with it the weight that’s been heavy on my shoulders for months.

“Say you’re mine.”

My lips take hers, and the kiss we share is fierce. Demanding. It pulls at my soul. It rips me apart and mends me back together. She sighs so softly, and everything is right in the world again.

“I’m yours.”

My hands dig into her thighs, and I slide them up to grope her ass. My lips pull into a smile against hers. “You look incredible tonight. Did you wear this dress to drive me crazy?” I smack her ass.

“Maybe.”

“Were you going to let Nate touch you wearing this?”

She grinds against me. “No. He tried to get me to go to the coat closet with him. Classy, huh?”
