I think he thought he could somehow get by without the renter finding out. Anyway, Citra dropped out when they saw the projected timetable for moving into the space.
“The owner didn’t want to be buried in repairs, and I knew you were already anticipating paying for the renovations anyway. I had it written up that I would be responsible to make whatever restoration changes necessary to bring it up to code if he sold me the building in it’s entirety.”
I push up on my knees, facing him completely slack jawed. “Oh my God!”
“He took the offer and we cut a deal.” He shrugs, like it’s no big thing.
“So, Citra didn’t—”
“Citra found another property that opened up on the same street, but a block closer to the brewery. That place with the outdoor patio?That’sthe restaurant they are taking over.”
