“Micky and Auds and I are having a girls’ night.”

Birdie turns her phone to show us the screen, and we wave to say hi. Rhys peers at Lonan’s screen, clearly able to see Audrey and me. “So, definitely trouble, then. One sec, babe.”

Then Birdie thrusts her phone into my hand.

Lonan hands over the phone, and we hear a muffled, “Here, hold this, I gotta grab another beer.”

“Oh, I see, you’re parent-trapping us. That’s cute. Very original.” I roll my eyes at Birdie.

“Hey,” he says, stealing my focus.

“Having a nice slumber party?”

It’s hard to hear him over the ambient noise of the bar, but I can tell his voice is low and rough. “The best. Are you behaving yourself tonight?”

A warm blush travels up my neck, and I catch Birdie side-eyeing Audrey.Super. This will be fun to explain later. His voice is deep and sexy, it’s similar to Hat Trick Swayze’s but his personality is way off. There’s a flicker of something in his eyes I’m not allowing my mind to entertain as anything more than him throwing some dominance shit back in my face. Little does he know I don’t operate that way.

“Nope. Not that it’s any of your concern. You aren’t the boss of me,sir.”

“You know what they say about famous last words.”

I’m about to open my mouth to dispense more snark, but he hands the phone back to Lonan before I get the chance.Fucker. I hate when he gets the last say.

Birdie wraps up with Lonan on the phone, and after she hangs up, she and Audrey stare at me.

“Micky.”

“Uh-huh?” I respond, admiring the ceiling tiles.

“Want to share with the class what’s going on between you and Rhys?”

“Yeah, I thought you hated that guy?” Audrey asks.

“I do. He’s an asshole, and I loathe him.”

“Oh really.” It’s more of a statement than a question, but I answer her anyway.

“Yes. If I was locked in a room with Stalin, Hitler, and Rhys, and given a gun with two bullets, I’d shoot Rhys twice.”

“Oh, stop. He’s way too hot to die. A man like that should be ridden hard and often, and denying us the chance goes against every rule of sisterhood. Oh God, think of how hot he’ll get when he’s older—total Daddy. You can’t deprive the world of witnessing a glorious transformation like that.” Audrey points at me.

Birdie and I gawk at Audrey in surprise.

“What are you talking about? You’re married!” I laugh.

“Which is why I need to live vicariously through you! You need to fuck him for the rest of us married gals who can’t.” Audrey takes a sip. “He’s a ten and you know it.”

“Look closer. There’s a decimal point between the one and the zero.”

“Whatever... sounded like he might be into you,” she teases.

I’m so over this conversation.

“If he was into me, he wouldn’t ignore me in the halls when I say hello. He wants none of this.” I circle my hand in front of me, gesturing to myself. “His anaconda don’t. Now, can we talk aboutanythingelse? Please?”

“Fine. How’s yourFollowersaccount going?”

“Good, it’s picking up speed,” I say happily, pleased we can finally discuss something not Rhys-related.
