“Been there, done that.” His fingers intertwine with mine, his gaze fixes on me. “Why would I want to screw a groupie and risk losing you?”

“But—”

“I understand that your trust is something that I’ll have to earn and something that I’ll have to work at to keep.” Kaan wraps his arms around me and cradles me against his chest, the scent of his cologne mixing with his warm embrace filling my senses. “I’m ready if you are.”

“You might find yourself liking monogamy.”

“If it means I get to wake up with you every morning I’m down for it.”

“There's something else... your drinking,” I finally bring up, my voice filled with concern.

His reaction is immediate, a noticeable tightening of his body. “You want me to go to a meeting? I'll do it.”

I shake my head gently, wanting him to understand the gravity of the situation. "There's more to it than just attending a meeting, Kaan."

The weight of my words hangs in the air, and I can see apprehension flash across his face. I continue, wanting to make sure he grasps the depth of the issue. “It's about digging deeper, understanding the reasons behind your drinking. It's about confronting the demons that fuel it and making a real commitment to your well-being.”

Kaan falls into a thoughtful silence, the weight of my words palpable. This is a pivotal moment, a crossroads where he must decide whether to face his demons head-on or continue down a destructive path.

And if he does continue down that path, do you really want to be with him, Meg?

“You’re right.” His tone carries a hint of resignation. “There’s more to this than I’ve been willing to face. But I can face it head on if you’re beside me.”

“I will be.”

“Just give me a chance. I told you that I’m falling for you. I realise that you find that hard to believe so I need to do everything that I can to show you just how great we can be together.”

The intense way he scrutinizes me makes me feel like a juicy steak ready to be devoured. But instead of sinking his teeth into me, he moans as he plants a kiss on my lips.

“Nutmeg, as much as I would rather stay in bed with you all day, we really do need to leave. Please do me a favour and get your beautiful bum out of bed and before I have no option but to make love to you again.”

He rolls away from me but not before he slaps me hard on the bottom. The sting burns and I let out a soft yelp.

I’m starting to get more than a little used tothatas well.

ChapterTwenty-Four

The Calm Before The Storm

TRENDING NOW:

The gossip mill is spinning like crazy with the latest sighting of Blair Roberts, having a lunch date with none other than Gabe Rushley, lead singer of Seven of Crows.

Could this lunch rendezvous be a covert strategy to bring down Kaan? Is it possible that Miz. Roberts and Rushley are joining forces to expose the tempestuous musician’s dark secrets or, and this might be an even more outrageous thought, are they a glamourous new couple?

I like to think that these two got together over a glass or three of champagne to swap stories of Kaan’s outrageous escapades. It’s like a clandestine club of exe’s coming together to share a collective eyeroll at the rock-and-roll heart throb.

Until I uncover more details, let the speculation continue and the gossip flow.

I’m Pippa Ellis, and this is Fame and No-sense.

It’s still dark outside and with no real idea of exactly what Kaan had planned for the day I make my way to the bathroom and turn on the shower jets. I let the warm water cascade over my body, the scent of the Turkish soap filling my nose, and washing away any remaining fears I’m holding onto about my relationship.

He says he’s all in, Meg. This is real.

No regrets.
