“So what do you want to do now?” asks Jada, smiling up at me.

I glance at my watch. “Well, despite all the dancing, I’m definitely still not hungry. How about you?”

She widens her eyes comically and shakes her head. “Uh-uh. I feel like all we’ve done since we got here is eat.”

I chuckle a little. “How about drinking? Are you sick of that too?”

She flashes me a mischievous grin. “Not quite yet. Besides, I’d like to see the resort’s famous bars. I’ve heard the bartenders are quite talented,” she jokes.

“I’ve heard the best one is on vacation, sadly,” I quip back and we laugh together as we make our way to Pisco.

When we get there we’re both thrilled to see Heidi working behind the speakeasy bar.

“Heidi!” we both cry, greeting her warmly.

“Well, if it isn’t the happy couple,” she says with a knowing smile. “Enjoying your honeymoon?”

“Oh, so much,” Jada says immediately and all I can do is smile. “We’ve been having the best time! Carter’s pulling out all the stops.”

I bow in mock modesty and Heidi laughs.

“So, what is it tonight then? Lobster at La Plage? Steak at Julio’s? Sushi at Kabuki?” she asks.

I stop her before she lists the rest of the restaurants in the resort.

“Actually we’re not that hungry,” I tell her, before turning to look at Jada. “But do you want to just get a snack with something to drink?”

“You know I could go for some nachos,” she tells me, and I smile.

“Perfect, nachos it is.”

Heidi raises an eyebrow and puts in the order with the cook before turning back to us.

“And for drinks?” she asks.

“Just a beer,” Jada and I both answer at the same time.

We stare at each other for a second before bursting out laughing.

“I think that dance instructor was right – wearereading each other’s minds,” I tell Jada and she nods emphatically.

“I swear, you’re the only other person I know who would order beer and nachos at a fancy place like this. I love that you get it,” she replies with a giant grin.

Heidi grabs us our drinks, but I can tell there’s something on her mind. She says nothing though, and instead lets us regale her in between customers with stories about our adventures so far.

“Oh my God,” Jada begins, and a blissful look ashes over her eyes. “The massage therapists here are so good. You and your husband should definitely go there sometime.”

“I second the motion,” I add, nodding. “They’ll fix anything. I had a crick in my neck from –”

I suddenly realize what I’m saying at the same time Jada does.

“Hey!” she says, playfully swatting my shoulder. “You said the couch was comfortable!”

“I mean, I couldn’t have you feeling guilty about taking the bed by yourself that first night,” I reply, hoping I haven’t accidentally made her feel guilty now.

“Well I’m glad you came around on that one,” she tells me and out of the corner of my eye, I see Heidi give us a look.

“The couples yoga also helped, so I have you to thank for that,” I say, smiling.
