“Enzo?” I say, sitting up from the bed when he enters. “What’s wrong?”
He stalks toward me, and my heart just about stops.
“You didn’t tell me about Toby texting you.”
I swallow hard, shocked at his admission. “Are you spying on me?” I tug on my robe, about to stand when he pushes me back down.
“No, I’m spying on him! Why didn’t you tell me?”
I look down at my hands, then back up at his face. “Because I knew what you’d do.”
“That shouldn’t make you afraid to tell me something that important.”
“I know how you get, and I don’t want to be responsible for Toby’s death, Enzo. You know that kind of stuff makes me nervous.”
“That’s just an excuse,” he says. “And you know it.”
I bite my lip. “What did you do to him?”
“That doesn’t matter. What matters is you lied to me. Here I was thinking that we were getting somewhere, and this douchebag threatened you, and now you just expect me to brush it off like it’s nothing?”
I shake my head. “I didn’t expect that.”
“No? Then you believe that I’m also not capable of restraint.”
I sit up straighter. “Are you?”
“I’m not as ruthless as your brothers, but trust me, I am getting to that stage really fucking quickly with you.”
I get up and come to him. “Enzo, I’m sorry.”
He brushes me away, the anger draining from his face. He now just looks disappointed, and that’s even worse.
“I’m sorry too, that we can’t be honest with one another.”
“I didn’t want you to worry.”
“It’s a little too late for that, don’t you think? You’re mine now,belladonna.We passed complicated a while back.”
“Are you going to tell Angelo about Toby?”
“Yes.”
I stand. “Enzo, you can’t do that.”
“Why the fuck not?”
“Because… you know that he’ll kill him.”
“He deserves to die.”
“For calling me a slut?”
He cups my face as I lean to his touch. “Yes.”
I know I shouldn’t… using my body to calm his temperament, but I can’t help myself. His dominance washes over me, and I need him like I need air.
“What if I want to be your slut?”
