She stares at me intently, her eyes so full of promise. “I love you more, Mr. Russo.”

I kiss her, my tongue invading her mouth as my hand, disguised under the table, tries to fight through layers of tulle so I can get to my destination between her legs.

She pulls back and slaps my hand away. “Parents in the vicinity,” she whispers, a smile on her lips. “And that’s what got us in this mess in the first place.”

“I seem to recall you practically begging me for it, back when I was your bodyguard.”

“I didn’t see you saying no.”

“That’s because I was stupidly trying to be a good guy,” I mumble, kissing her once more. “Didn’t make that mistake again.”

“You definitely didn’t,” she agrees.

She squeals as I playfully nip her throat with my teeth.“Mr. Russo…”

I look back at her. “Mrs. Russo, why can’t we tell anyone?”

She bites her lip.

“What?” I prompt.

She shrugs. “Ma still thinks I’m a virgin.”

I throw my head back and laugh with all I’ve got.

“Are you shitting me?” I say, wiping my eyes when I’m done laughing.

She doesn’t look impressed. “No, Enzo, I’m not. She thinks we’re waiting, so we’d better not ruin it for her.”

I shake my head. “I think she’s gonna do the math once you’re due, baby girl.”

I think her Ma may have cottoned on to the fact we’re doing the nasty some time back, but I don’t want to burst her bubble.

“She’ll be too engrossed in the baby by then,” she says as I stroke her face. “She won’t notice.”

The baby.

“You’re a feisty Medici who can hold her own and get rid of the bad guys all by yourself, and you’re afraid of that little Sicilian woman at the end of the table?” I chuckle.

She slaps me on the arm. “I’m not the only one. We all cower in her presence. Even Angelo has been known to not say no to her. It’s best for us both if she believes I’m a virgin bride.”

I move my mouth to her ear. “Hmm, maybe we can do some role playing on our honeymoon. I like the idea of popping the cherry of a virgin bride.”

She pulls my suit jacket and kisses me again. “So elegant,Mr. Russo, who else could love that dirty mouth of yours?”

I grin, reciprocating her kiss. “I’m gonna love you my whole life.” I move my hands down to her flat stomach, where our baby grows. “And this little one, too. Forever,Mrs. Russo.”

“Forever,” she whispers.

Everything is just as it should be.

I’m right where I need to be, with the woman I love, surrounded by all of the people who care about us the most.

I’ll spend the rest of my life living up to the promises and vows I made today.

I’ll be everything she and our baby need.

I’ll be the man she always dreamed of.

Forever.
