“Here we go,” Marco mutters.

I ignore him. “Sage and I are going to be giving things another go, and if all goes to plan, I want her to move in with me.”

“That's fabulous news,” Sloane gives me a warm smile.

“Thank you, Sloane. I’m glad one of the people in this room is happy for us.”

Dante slaps me on the back. “About time. Did it really take you this long to figure it out?”

I shove him off.

“Very funny, asshole.”

“Fynn, do you really know what you’re doing?” Angelo seems quite concerned.

I walk toward him. “Of course I know what I’m doing. I’m taking back what’s mine.”

Angelo’s lips twitch. “Congratulations, you’re finally a man.”

Marco chuckles, as does Dante.

But nobody seems surprised.

“Everyone’s a wiseass,” I quip, shoving Dante when he saunters up next to me.

“Sage is amazing,” Sloane goes on, as Charlie finishes circling the room for pats and jumps back up on her lap. “Such a talented doctor, and a really beautiful person.”

It’s just like Sloane to say nice things about people, as she gets along with everybody. It’s hard to imagine that she was once thought of as our enemy. Now she’s one of Angelo’s most trusted confidants.

“She is pretty amazing,” I agree, and I feel all of my brothers’ eyes on me. They’ve never seen me like this before, I’m practically gushing. But I can’t help it. Sage is everything I’ve ever wanted, and I’m just so glad things are out in the open now.

Obviously, we’re going to keep the baby thing to ourselves until the time is right. I should do the right thing and tell my ma first, and the both of us have to tell her parents. They’ve always liked me, so I don’t see any issues, but still, you never know.

All I do know is that she’s the light of my life, and I’ll do anything to keep her. Anything to make her happy. Anything that she desires will be hers.

Imagining her round belly as she carries our child makes me weak at the knees. I finally understand all the things I’ve ever wanted.

The person I once was is gone. And I don’t miss him one bit.

“So, what do we know?” I give Angelo a chin lift.

Surely, Rocco and Darko must know something.

“Sloane has been working on digging through the files for most of the night,” Angelo says. “But as Rodríguez said, with most companies that want to store money in offshore accounts, as well as keeping things hidden, their identity is buried under more red tape than you’d ever imagine.”

“Ain’t that the truth,” Enzo agrees.

“Such a load of bullshit,” Marco grumbles. “It should be better regulated. Obviously people who do this have a lot to hide.”

“We do know that Il Diavolo doesn’t frequent the Whiskey Run,” Sloane puts in. “In fact, he’s never been seen there, or spotted anywhere.”

“How is that fucking possible?” Angelo’s voice gets louder. “This chump has us running all over town, he’s attacked everyone in my family, my friends, my employees, the people I care about the most, and we don’t have one single shred of information on him?”

“I can only tell you the facts, Angelo,” Sloane says softly. “I wish we had something on him, too, but he’s gone to great lengths to cover up who he is. We are still investigating, but it’s going to take time. I have to hand it to Rodriguez. He did a pretty good job, and even he doesn’t know his client’s real identity.”

That’s the part that worries me the most.

That he would go to this much trouble…
