I shake my head in disgust. I can barely even look at him.

All of the things he has done, and the trail of death and destruction he has left, make me sick to my stomach.

He really is the devil.

He really has no care or regard for anyone or anything, except for himself.

I can feel the tension mounting.

Although it isn’t true, it’s like I can hear every heartbeat in the room. Every minute that slips through my fingers is a moment I am missing with Sage.

I need her.

I need her like I need air.

My fingers start to twitch, my palms sweating. But I don’t lose sight of where my gun is pointed, and I never will. We came here to take out the trash, and that is exactly what we intend on doing.

“The army is in place,” Rocco mutters, loud enough for all of us to hear.

This is good. This means the building is now surrounded. It also means that some of his men will be there too, but they chose their side, and now they must live with the consequences.

“Of course, you always thought you were better than me, didn’t you, King Cosimo?”

Roberto frowns.

My eyes slip to Angelo’s face as he smirks. “You may think you have hackers, but you have amateurs. I have the best in the business. We found you, Cosimo, and when I say, wefound you,I mean, I found your offshore bank accounts, and I hacked every single one of them.”

Roberto attempts to talk, but his mouth opens and then closes. Is it just me, or does he pale somewhat?

He should be afraid. Because everything Angelo’s saying is the truth. I have no doubt that between Sloane and Vaughn, they have seized complete control over Roberto’s assets.

Angelo turns to Marco. “Being king is actually fun sometimes.”

Marco gives him a look and shakes his head. He’s always in control; Marco will never let his guard down.

I, on the other hand, can’t help myself. I snicker.

I love it when we play dirty. It is so much more fun.

“They'll find Jimmy Hoffa before you find those accounts,” Roberto says, waving his gun around.

I shake my head. “I don’t think so. I don’t know if you’ve heard, but we have the best hacker in the business. She used to work for the Bank of America, she was so good. She was offered multiple contracts with government agencies and another bank to work within their cyber security network. And she’s a good girl most of the time, ain’t that right, Roc?” Rocco gives me a look, but I plow on. “But when she’s bad, she’s bad-ass. She’s wiping out your accounts as we speak. There is no trace or paper trail. We might use some of the money to rebuild some of the lives you have tried to destroy. It seems you have been very busy; it’s such a shame to see all those years you have put in all go swilling down the sink in the blink of an eye. I guess this should be a lesson to you about who you employ, and also, don’t skimp when it comes to security.”

He points his gun at me. “You lie.”

I smirk. “Are you sure?”

He turns to his right-hand man. “Kill him.”

The man looks at me as I tilt my gun toward him, but then he does something odd, he points the gun at me, then Marco, then Angelo, but he does nothing. Rocco surges forward toward me, standing in front of all of the brothers, then Enzo follows suit, as does Frank and Garrett, Darko, and Dom. Our loyal soldiers right to the very end. A lump forms in my throat.

Roberto’s right-hand man changes tact, and before we even know what’s happening, he’s turned the gun toward Roberto and holds it next to his temple.

Holy shit.

What the fuck is going on?

“So you see, Roberto?” Angelo says, clocking his gun, ready to shoot. “Everybody has a price.”
