I reach for him, and he comes over the top of me, resting his weight off my body.

“I love you, Fynn,” I say, as my smile fades. I want him to know I’m serious. “The day you rescued me…”

He pecks me on the lips. “I don’t ever want to think about that day ever again.”

Roberto is dead.

A lot of people are dead.

But Angelo has secured the city once again. Turning over all of the men who sided with Roberto to the Feds. Some he offed, I have no doubt, and some were working for Angelo all along.

He used the money that Sloane recovered from Roberto’s bank account, sharing it amongst various charities, as well as doling it out to the soldiers who were loyal, and the rest he used to set up a wing at the cancer ward in Mario Medici’s name. We also upped security at the hospital to make it safer for the employees. After what happened with Sage that night, everything changed.

I’ll never be able to understand why Roberto did what he did. Where did it get him in the end?

It was all for nothing. He died anyway.

Angelo wasn’t doing too well, from what Fynn told me. The shock setting in days later.

But I know he will rise; he doesn’t know how to fail.

“What are you thinking about?” Fynn prompts.

“Your brother.”

He frowns. “My brother? Which fucking brother?”

I roll my eyes. “Angelo, and not inthat way.I was thinking about how hard all of this hit him in the aftermath.”

He sobers, his face softening. “He’ll take a while to get over it, but he’ll come around. He always does.”

“He’s a strong man, you all are.”

“And you’re an amazing woman.” He looks at me with complete sincerity. “I hate that you had to go through that.”

I cup his face. “I know, but the main thing is, it’s over now. We can go about our lives again and not have to look over our shoulders.”

He nods, nuzzling his nose against mine. “If you need anything…”

I lean up to kiss him softly. “I know, baby, I know.”

“I love you,” he whispers.

My heart is so full whenever he’s near me that I wonder how I could have lived without him for this long. I shake that off. All that matters is now.

Us.Our future together.

“I love you too.” My heart warms and my skin prickles when he smiles against my lips. “I’ll never stop loving you.”

And I mean every word, from the bottom of my heart.
