“Now, let's try that again… whose fault was it?”

“M-mine,” he stammers, as blood trickles down from his nose. “It was my fault, I should never have taken that shit and gone back to the apartment,Sage... she….”

My nostrils flare as I sucker punch him again. “Don’t fucking say her name!” I shout. “You’ll never see her again, you’ll never lay a finger on her, do you hear me?”

He nods frantically. “Yes… yes! I’ll do anything you say. I’ll leave town…”

I laugh and turn to look at my brother and his men. I know that my brothers Dante and Marco have been informed about this situation, but I’m unsure why they aren’t here yet.

Maybe Angelo thinks I can handle this, just me and him.

That kinda makes me feel good.

“Leave town?” I muse. “The only thing you’ll be leaving town in is a body bag.”

He gulps and turns a few shades paler. He knows who I am. He was never cool with Sage and I being friends after we split, but that was always just too fucking bad.

“Please. I’ll do anything you say…” He tries to pull against his bound hands. “Anything at all.”

I shake my head. “I don’t think so, asshole. You need to suffer, so whatever you did to Sage is exactly what I’m going to inflict back on you, tenfold.”

Angelo walks over to me. “Don’t take too long,” he says in my ear. “We want this finished tonight. I have work to do after this is over.”

I nod. “You go. Darko and I can take care of this.”

“I’m not going anywhere.” He shakes his head. “I want to make sure this all gets tidied up nice and neat before I leave.”

I’m not worried that I won’t be able to kill him when the time comes, but at the same point, this is the first person I’ve intended to kill. It will be point blank and merciless. I don’t know how I feel about it just yet, because all I can see is Sage in my mind's eye and the state he left her in. So that spurs me on, though her begging me to not kill him also becomes very prominent in my thoughts.

He didn’t care about that when he left her in a heap on the floor, crying and bleeding.

And he doesn’t seem to care much now. Only about his own hide.

“Fine, I’ll have a few rounds with him… then Darko and I will go throw him in the Charles,” I say.

Angelo contemplates for a moment. “Good.” He nods. “Get on with it. Roll up your sleeves, for God’s sake, you don’t want blood getting all over that fucking suit.”

He walks out of the interrogation room while I rough Cameron up, mostly for enjoyment, but also in an attempt to find out why he’s such an asshole. I doubt I will ever be able to understand that.

“You know I hated you from when I first met you,” I go on, circling around the small metal chair in the middle of the room. “I thought you were a bum, and I told her as much. You were never good enough for her.”

He glances up at me, blood dripping down his face. “What are you going to do to me?” he pleads.

He’s sweating and his skin is ashen. I would say him coming down from his addiction is no picnic right now. He looks like he’s about to climb the walls.

I rub my hands together while I pace. “I haven’t decided yet, but we have as long as we want out here to get acquainted. No one can hear your screams, or your pleas for salvation. It’s not going to work this time.”

“I’ll cut you guys in on the deal,” he blurts out from nowhere.

I stop in my tracks. “What fucking deal?”

“I have a pretty sweet deal set up. I’m only a rookie at the moment, but I’m going places… I can hook you guys up… you can make a lot of money.”

I look at him in disgust. “You fucking think that I need the money? Do the Medicis look like the kind of guys who would need to be hooked up in your pathetic wannabe drug deals?” Which Uncle Mario and Angelo will not approve of.

“It’s legit!” he insists. Pure insanity must be running through him right now. Or maybe it’s adrenaline.

“Stop talking!” I growl, elbowing him straight in the teeth. “I don’t want to hear another fucking word!” I nod over to Rocco, who’s leaning in the doorway watching the exchange. “Cut him free.”
