“Protocol for everyone staying put for one. I don’t think it’s safe for any of us to go gallivanting around at the moment with all this shit going on.”

I roll my eyes, here we go.

“Well, we can still talk,” he says with a shrug.

I gape at him. “You. Want. To. Talk?”

He narrows his eyes at me, and then frowns. “You really were with a woman?”

Not just any woman. Sage.

“Yes,” I sigh. “And you made out it was urgent. So I left and got here in record time, and now you want to fucking chat?”

“I thought you’d gone celibate.” He chuckles.

I slump down in the chair opposite his desk. “Fuck off.”

“What’s it been now? Two, three months?”

“FUCK OFF.”

He grins, then sobers. “Who were you with?”

“None of your fucking business.”

He narrows his eyes. “You were with her, weren't you?”

“A gentleman never kisses and tells.”

He gives me a look. “Trust me, brother, when it’s someone you love, shit gets real.”

“Don’t I know it.” I sigh.

“So you were with Sage?”

I frown, not meeting his gaze. I don’t want to lie to my brother, but this is complicated.

“It’s early days,” I admit. “A lot of shit went down with us.”

“About time,” he grumbles. “We’ve all had a soft spot for Sage for years. You need to get your shit together and get her off the market. You can’t rely on your looks forever, Fynn. They’ll fade, and so will your fan club.”

“Well, aren’t we the Debbie downer,” I grumble. “And I can’t help it if people think I’m the best looking Medici, with the biggest cock.”

He just shakes his head.“Does she know how you feel?”

I swallow hard. “Not really.”

“Well, that’s stupid.”

“She’s very guarded,” I tell him. “After everything she went through with the fuckface ex, I don’t think she fully trusts anyone. She knows I’d never hurt her, but I don’t get all of her. Not like I did before.”

“That will come, in time. If you love her, then you’re in it for the long haul.”

I give him a nod. “Any news on Il Diavolo?”

He runs a hand through his hair. “We’re getting closer,” he tells me. “I feel it in my bones, Fynn. I hate it when I’m right sometimes, but it just feels like we’ve been missing something. Almost like this person’s been under our noses this whole time.”

“Your fucking freaking me out,” I tell him.
