“Well, we have the credentials left over from when we staked out that hospital back home, all I need to do is change a couple of things, and it should be no problem getting you, Harley and Colt in as doctors and nurses.” He explains.

“I can then go into their system and have them assigned to him too, so we don’t risk any outsiders getting into the room. We don’t want there to be any chance that someone could get to him in disguise as hospital personnel,” Nash adds.

“That sounds great, but he’s still going to need an actual doctor checking on him. He’s still unconscious,” I point out worriedly.

“Asher is a doctor,” Sawyer explains, “he’s fully trained and was a military doctor.”

“And we have all had extensive medical training, but Harley and Colt are the best of us. Micha will be in good hands.” Ridge adds, effectively reassuring me.

“That’s impressive as fuck,” Ace comments.

Lorcan smiles at the compliment but doesn’t bother replying as he adds to the conversation, “The rest of them can be set up nearby, and keep an eye on the surveillance and also make sure that Micha and the others remain safe. We’ll keep an eye on everyone coming and going from the hospital and anyone who approaches Micha’s room. Then as soon as we have a suspect, we can add his description and keep a look out for whoever they are as well.”

My eyebrows raise, “You guys keep surprising me, and I fucking love it. If my memory is correct, there’s a motel literally next door to the hospital. Will that be close enough for you guys to keep an eye on the rest of your team, or do you need to be even closer? I could probably get you a van or something to park up?”

Lorcan shakes his head, “No, the motel should be perfect.”

“Great,” I pull out a wad of cash from my bag nestled by my feet and hand it over to Asher. When he looks at me questioningly, I add, “For the motel rooms, food, and anything else you may need. If you need more, just let me know.”

“I think it’s going to take us quite a while to get used to the way that you do things,” Harley mutters.

“Do you want daily updates or just updates when we have something?” Ridge asks.

“Just when you have something, there’s not much point otherwise, and obviously, we’ll contact you with the details of who we need to be on the lookout for as soon as we know,” I reply.

Rome leans forward slightly in his chair, gaining everyone’s attention, “Obviously, we need to get this sorted as quickly as possible because we need to get back in time for the meeting on Friday, but we also need the job done properly and without rushing because rushing leads to mistakes.”

“And mistakes in this world are deadly,” all of my men say together, earning a severe look from Rome and causing the rest of us to try not to laugh desperately.

“You fuckers,” Rome grumbles.

Asher, who is standing next to him, having moved forward from the back of the plane when we started talking, claps him on the shoulder and says, “Don’t worry dude, my team does the same to me.”

Rome’s lips twitch slightly, “Fuckers aren’t they.”

“Hey, I take offense to that.” Ace predictably yells, far too loud for the environment that we’re in.

As they all dissolve into separate conversations now that the logistics have all been sorted, I pull my phone back out and text Waverly, trying to reassure her and distract her all at once. Unfortunately, she has absolutely no idea what happened or who could have done this. Still, Micha wouldn’t have necessarily wanted to worry her, especially since she would have already been worrying about Micha’s siblings and making sure that they were all okay. Considering that one of Micha’s siblings isn’t much younger than us, it’s a feat in itself trying to get him to listen and take school seriously and all of that shit. Add in the little one who hates being referred to as little because he’s actually ten, and it’s hard work to get them both where they need to go.

Thankfully they both want to make the most of being in Micha’s care so it’s not often that they fight against him and Waverly, they both want to go to college and will need scholarships to do so since Micha outright refused my help. Neither of them wants to end up in the same situation as their mother, and I honestly can’t blame them. Although, I do think it helps to see that Micha has made a success of himself.

It occurs to me that I need to make sure that the Conspiracy team has a car because they’re going to be going straight to the hospital to set up, and they’re going to need one to quickly escape if things get a bit dodgy, with this in mind I send off a quick message to Waves, and she replies that she’ll get someone to drive a van over and then get picked up before we arrive.

Chapter Seven

Finally, we start our descent, and I’m so fucking glad. I need to get going and figure out what the fuck is going on; I need to figure out if Micha is still in danger, and if by association, that means Waverly and the kids are as well. I’m also more concerned about getting back in time for the meeting with the Ravens than I thought I would be. I think it’s because I want to get going on the improvements and build up the reputation of them again so that we’re who people come to. I want us to get to a point where we’re turning jobs away because we haven’t got the time.

“Sawyer?” I ask, gaining his attention as the wheels of the plane touch the tarmac.

“Yeah?”

“What time is the meeting on Friday?”

An understanding look crosses his face as he replies, “It’s not until eight-thirty in the evening.”

I smile gratefully, “Ah, okay, thank fuck for that. We’ve got a bit more time than I thought we would.”

“I can always put it off if we need more time,” he suggests.
