“Joseph will be there too.”

“Joseph from upstairs? Look at you, Miss Thing,” I teased.

“Oh, stop, or I’ll uninvite you.”

“You wouldn’t,” I said.

“I would, indeed. Though Dean could still come.”

“Traitor.”

“Love you!” she sang then hung up, and I rolled my eyes. That was when I spotted him.

The son of a bitch was unfolding from his car like some kind of commercial in his tweed pea coat as he combed his hand over his hair then stuck both hands in his pockets, walking with enough confidence to knock a camel on its ass.

I hopped out of my car. “You’re late, Hargrove.”

He showed me his phone screen. Ten o’clock on the dot. “No, I’m not.” His jaw worked as he smacked his gum, and I curled my lip. “What’s that face for?”

“You.”

“What’s new?” With his hand on my back, he escorted me into the restaurant and up to the hostess at the small podium. She led us to a table in the back, where we ordered a pot of coffee.

“It’s like déjà vu,” I said, crossing my legs under the table so the toe of my shoe cracked him in the shin.

“Ah shit,” he hissed.

“Sorry.”

“Yeah, you look real sorry,” he said, leaning over the table, lowering his voice. “You’re gonna get it later.”

I raised one eyebrow, my skin heating at the threat. “Oh yeah?”

He nodded, taking his time as his gaze drifted over my face. “My order finally came in.”

My thighs automatically tensed, my belly fluttering. Weeks ago, he had ordered special under-the-bed restraints as a birthday present to himself, but they’d been on back order. Until now, apparently.

“Let’s see how long that smug look lasts when you’re begging me to fuck you.”

I tried my best not to appear as excited as I was, but from his growing smirk, I knew I was failing.

Then he reached across the table and rubbed his thumb over my bottom lip. “I think we’ll start with this mouth of yours. What do you think?”

“I think you need to stop talking about this in public since our clients will be here any minute.” And as if I’d summoned them, Ariel, Kelly, and Julissa strolled in.

As soon as she spotted us, Ariel threw her arms up, squealing. I stood from my seat and accepted her hug. “Congratulations!”

“We did it,” she said, holding me at arm’s length.

“Youdid it.” I looked to Kelly and Julissa behind her. “You all did it.”

After I greeted each woman with a hug, Dean followed suit then gestured for them to sit. This time around, everyone ordered breakfast.

“So, how does it feel?” Dean asked after the server left. We had reached a settlement last week, with Ron paying out a good chunk of change. It was a win for the women of Sunset Lounge, but also for everyone working in their industry. Management was on the hook, and our winning case could and would be cited by future dancers in need of help in an unsafe work environment.

This was one of the most important cases of my career to date, and I’d won it with Dean at my side. Both of us partners in the accomplishment.

“I feel really proud,” Kelly said.
