Wolf looked at the giant horse as it nuzzled her shoulder through the stall window, and she could see his resolve fading.

He scrubbed a hand over his face and sighed. “Fine, but, Lucy, you do anything you’re not supposed to do on that horse like make it run or wander off, and you won’t sit for the next year. Understood?”

Throwing her arms around his waist, she grinned. “Yes, Daddy. Thank you.”

It took nearly an hour for everyone to get the horses out of the stalls and help the Littles get mounted before the men mounted their horses. Sitting on top of Magic, Lucy was a lot higher than she’d expected, but the horse was sturdy and walked easily in line as they started up the trail. It only took a few minutes before Lucy relaxed and started enjoying the ride.

“It’s so beautiful here,” Claire called out.

Ava nodded. “It’s so quiet here too, compared to the city. Oh, look at the deer off in the distance!”

Lucy watched as several deer munched on the grass in a meadow a few hundred yards away. A little while later, they saw a bald eagle soaring through the air. Then they came to a flowing river and saw huge fish swimming downstream. It was like nothing she’d ever seen before, and while she loved the city, she was sure she would ask her Daddy to come back to Rawhide Ranch at least once a year because she was having the bestest time ever. The other women seemed to be as well.

“There’s a spot up here where we can stop and have lunch,” Master Travis called out from the front of the line.

As Wolf came to help her down from Magic, she felt like she was grinning from ear to ear. “Daddy, this is so fun. Can I get a horse? I want one just like Magic.”

He reached up and pulled her down, settling her on his hip as he made his way toward the picnic tables where Master Travis had set down a large picnic basket that was filled with sandwiches, fruit, baby carrots, and chips.

The men all worked to get the Littles settled with their food, but her Daddy sat down right next to her and started hand-feeding her. Maddox did the same with Brynn, and Hawk pulled Ellie onto his lap while she ate.

When they all finished their food, Master Travis asked the other men to help him with giving the horses some water, so the women were left alone at the picnic tables.

“My Daddy said I can’t ever use glitter again,” Sadie said with a pout.

Several of the women scoffed.

“Yeah, well, my Daddy said unicorns aren’t real, and that’s just mean to say because they are definitely real,” Ava replied.

Lucy couldn’t help but giggle. Sometimes she thought their Daddies needed to be taught a lesson of their own. “I wish there was a way to bring unicorns to the Ranch. That would show them.”

One by one, each of the Littles looked at her, making her fidget nervously.

“What?” she asked.

Kylie’s lips slowly pulled back into a grin before she snapped her fingers. “That’s the best idea ever!”

Completely confused, Lucy looked around the table, trying to figure out what was the best idea ever. “What’s the best idea exactly?”

Sadie and Wren looked at Kylie and then each other and grinned.

“After the parade, there’s going to be a big outdoor picnic close to the playground where we all eat and play games until the fireworks start. It’s the perfect place to see some unicorns wandering around,” Wren said.

Lucy’s eyes widened. What in the world were they thinking of doing?

Kylie wiggled her eyebrows at them then pointed. “Well, since we can’t go pick up unicorns to bring onto the Ranch… we’ll make our own.”

Following the line to where she was pointing, Lucy’s mouth dropped open as her gaze landed on the group of horses. Oh, boy. This was going to be interesting.

Chapter Ten

Hawk and Ellie

Ellie

Their conversation was interrupted by their Daddies as they came back from watering the horses. Suddenly all of them went quiet, causing several of the men to narrow their eyes at the Littles. Of course, her Daddy was one of those men, and his eyes were directed at her.

“What’s going on?” he asked.
