“Aren’t you excited, Daddy?”

He looked down at her and reached out to pull her onto his lap. “Of course I am. I’m just thinking that you and I need to plan our wedding too. I don’t like that you’re not tied to me forever. I need a signed contract.”

She giggled. “Daddy, it’s called a marriage license. It’s not a contract. You’re silly.”

Letting out another grunt, he nuzzled his face into the crook of her neck. “Yeah, but maybe we need an ownership contract too that says I own you and you own me and no one can ever break the contract.”

Rolling her eyes, she giggled. “Again, I’m pretty sure that’s still a marriage license.”

Shrugging, he leaned back and rested his elbows on the blanket so she was able to lean back against him while they waited for the fireworks to start.

“What kind of wedding do you want, Ellie? Whatever you want, I’ll make sure it happens.”

Letting out a deep sigh, she smiled. Her Daddy might be the gruffest of all the brothers, but his heart was pure gold… you know once you got past all the layers of gruffness. He was kind of like Shrek. Lots of layers.

“I don’t care what kind of wedding we have. I just want to be with you. We’ll have to get an attorney so we can get a prenup first but after that, we can go to the courthouse for all I care.”

Hawk sat up so quick she let out a yelp of surprise.

“Why the fuck do you want a prenup?”

Looking at him in confusion, she shrugged. “Because you have a lot of money and your business and all that. You have to protect your assets. I don’t have anything. I don’t want you to worry that I want you for your money or something. The only thing I want is you.”

Shaking his head, he clasped her chin. “I’m not signing a goddamn prenup. I don’t give a shit if you want to spend every fucking dollar that’s in my account because as far as I’m concerned, it belongs to both of us. And if you decide to divorce me and take everything, then you fucking deserve everything because obviously if you feel the need to leave me, I deserve to be broke and alone. I don’t want to hear another word about a goddamn prenup, are we clear? Besides, we’re never divorcing anyway.”

“Okay, okay. Sheesh. No need to get your panties in a bunch.”

As soon as she said it, he reached around her and pinched one of her nipples through her shirt, making her yelp.

“The only one who’s going to get their panties in a bunch is you when I pull them up between your bottom cheeks and smack your smart little bottom.”

She grinned and rolled her eyes. So bossy and overbearing and she freaking loved it. She couldn’t wait to marry Hawk. Never in her life had she expected to be engaged to such the perfect man. Sometimes perfection doesn’t look like perfection until you looked below the surface. One thing she’d learned from being with Hawk was to never judge a book by its cover.

“Would it be terrible if I wanted a big fancy wedding?” she asked quietly.

His hand traveled up her chest to grip her chin before he gently turned her head to the side so she was forced to look at him. “Nothing about getting married to you would be terrible. You want a big fancy wedding, we’ll have the biggest fanciest wedding you want. You just tell me what you want, and I’ll make it happen.”

Did she want a big fancy wedding? Most little girls dreamed of having a big wedding that was only in the fairytales, and if she were honest with herself, she’d probably wanted the same thing when she’d been a kid, but priorities changed, and the only thing she wanted was to say “I do” to her Daddy and then celebrate with those closest to them, and everyone who was closest to them was right there at Rawhide Ranch.

“Do you think it would be rude to get married on the same day as Maddox and Brynn?” she asked.

She heard a gasp and when she turned to see where it was coming from, she found Brynn standing right next to them. Crap. She hoped she hadn’t offended her.

“Oh my gosh, I would love it if we got married on the same day! That would be amazing!” Brynn squealed.

Pulling her bottom lip between her teeth, Ellie glanced at Hawk who was grinning as though he’d won the biggest lottery in history.

“You want to marry me here?” he asked.

Nodding, she smiled softly. “I do. Maybe when we get home, we can have a big celebration?”

“Can we get married too?” Lucy asked.

“Oh my gosh, that would be so cool,” Kylie squealed.

Leo stood from the blanket he and Claire were sitting on and dropped to one knee, pulling a box from the pocket of his shorts. “Maybe we should make it a family thing. I was going to wait until the fireworks started, but since we’re all on the subject… Claire, babygirl, you have changed my life for the better, and we might not be as young as our kids but that doesn’t change who and what you are to me. You’re my love, my friend, my lover, and my babygirl, and I want you to be those things for the rest of our lives. Will you let me be your husband and Daddy forever?”

Claire let out a sob and launched herself at Leo. “Yes! Oh my gosh, yes!”
