"An underground space in the garden?"

"Yeah. But they didn't build it in themselves. It's been there since the previous owners left it as is. Anyway, I sneaked in and found out that before prostitution, gambling, and abuse of illegal drugs, they bought a group of teenage girls and boys internationally and forced them to participate in an illegal charity event. They are being kept in the underground basement as of now."

Damn it. This case can blow up massively in our faces if we don't handle it right, "Did you arrange everything with Mike?"

"Yeah. He has drawn up a basic breach of contract against the Armanis and is waiting for you to approve it. But there is something more you should know."

Glancing up at Gray's serious expression,, "Go ahead."

"The Armanis are not the only ones connected to this illegal charity. There are others as well. And one of them is News Daily."

That confuses me, "Wait. Wait. Wait. News Daily, you say? That's just a local newspaper. How is it involved?"

"Actually, you'd be surprised how deeply involved it is." Gray takes out a few more documents and hands them to me.

Looking at the documents, I sight substantial amounts of money being moved from an unknown overseas account to this anonymous account and then back to this unknown account overseas, "What is this?"

"This is a copy of the record book of transactions the head of News Daily keeps in her office."

I stare at him, confused, "How did you get this? I didn't tell you to investigate News Daily."

"I didn't. But you did tell me to look more into Jenna Hart. And she had this copy of the record book of transactions in her house."

Wow. Gray really surprises me this time, "Anything else?"

"I am sorry, dude, but actually, there is more. Jenna's been trying to find the truth behind her husband's death."

That I knew, "So?"

"The investigation behind her husband's death isn't that threatening, but working in secret at a company like News Daily may have ruffled some feathers. It would help if you talked to Jenna. If anything, she holds a lot of valuable insider information. And people in high places don't like it when the people who work for them know too much."

Annoyed at the information overload, I almost growled at him, "Anything else, Henderson?"

Sensing my tone, he's about to back away. Still, I have already decided "Tell Mike to draft a list of News Daily management details. If what you're saying is true, multiple parties want Jen to retire, including News Daily itself. I need those names, properties registered under those names, their relatives' names, and even their employees' names in two hours. Set up surveillance around possible suspects that may show unusual activity by tonight. Also, set up surveillance near the ports. If they could buy humans, they could also sell them."

Gray seems shocked at my last statement, "You mean if they don't get what they want, they may send Cale overseas."

"Point of correction, they will send him whether they achieve what they want." I turn to dismiss Gray and have the other group contact Chicago Kindergarten as I make my way to Gwen and Jen in the car.

Sitting in the driver's seat, I glance at the sleeping Jen in the rearview mirror, "She is still not awake?"

Gwen shakes her head tiredly. I hate doing this to her but hand her the copy of News Daily transactions, "Have you ever seen this before?"

Gwen's expression reveals she doesn't know what it is, "What is it? Is it an illegal transaction of sorts?"

Putting the car in gear, "Correct. It's a copy of the illegal transactions conducted by News Daily."

Gwen's confused gaze meets mine in the rearview mirror, "Wait. I don't understand."

"Jen kept it in her house. Didn't you follow her to keep her away from this very stuff?"

"I did. But isn't this different from investigating her husband's death?"

"What if it's related? What if she kept it to exchange for information regarding her husband's death?"

My question is met with deathly silence. Gwen's expression ranges from disbelief to anger, "But News Daily is just your local newspaper, right? It isn't-"

I shake my head at her through the rearview mirror. Her expression breaks as she understands. All this time, she thought she was followed by her best friend. She was rushed along the lead while Jen was running into danger alone. If I were in her place, I would also be devastated.
