CHAPTER THREE

Talia’s eyes movedfrom one biker to the other. Taking a deep breath, she raised her chin. She was not going to stand there like a piece of meat waiting to be claimed. Moving to the table, she was hyper-aware of the one called Hyde. His eyes roamed over her, his lips twisting at the sight of her bare toes.

“There were boots in that bag,” his rough voice sending shivers over her skin.

“For you” the younger man at the table pushed a plate towards her. His eyes watching her every move.

Picking up a chip, she bit into it before answering him.

“They didn‘t fit” she hadn’t realized how hungry she was.

Ignoring the apologetic shrug, she sat at the table, picking up the burger. Biting into it. The juice of the meat filling her taste-buds. Finally, covering the pungent taste of vomit. Having no toothbrush was going to be a problem.

“Get her boots, Thorn,”

“Sorry, boss, can't do that. They were the only ones in town.”

Chewing slowly, Talia eyed off the men in the room. Both were big, muscled, and inked. The one called Hyde was tall, about six foot four. The black leather of his pants hiding nothing of the bulge in his pants. Trying not to flush at the warmth that filled her betraying body. she closed her eyes. What the hell was wrong with her? He had kidnapped her, drugged her, and forced her to strip in front of him. He was a bad guy.

Yet her whole being was aware of him as he moved to a bag, pulling out a T-shirt and pulling it over his head and down over his torso. And god, what a torso.

Forcing herself to glance away, her eyes landed on Thorn. His unkempt, sandy brown hair fell over his eyes as he ate. He was good looking for a biker, yet his face lacked the harsh disciple that was carved into the one he called Hyde.

Even now, she could feel his eyes still on her. Watching as she ate.

“Why?” she spoke the word softly.

“Why what?” His voice was more growl than anything else.

Licking her lips, Talia took a deep breath. Watching as Hyde's eyes dipped to her lips, then to the swell of her breasts.

“Why kidnap me? What’s so important about me?”

For a moment, he hesitated. His deep red wolf's eyes staring into hers across the table.

“It's my job, princess,” his words barely discernible over the low growl that accompanied them. “Eat”,

Picking up his burger, biting into it, he ignored her completely.

Talia let out a breath and nodded slowly, focusing on the food and doing her best to ignore him back.

She knew she had to get away.

Without her magic, she was vulnerable, but not useless. Let them think she was too scared to try anything, that the threat to her grandmother held her tighter than any handcuff ever could. After all, what proof did she have that she was in any danger at all?

Swallowing the last of her burger down past the lump in her throat, Talia frowned. Her grandmother was more of a parent than either her mother and father. They had both been unable to comprehend that their daughter wasn't quite human. Her magic had scared them and when it didn't disappear like they wanted. They had let her spend most of her time with her grandmother.

Glancing at Hyde out of the corner of her eye, she couldn't imagine him making an idle threat. Even sitting back and eating hot chips, he exuded menace. Lethal predator in every way.

But the waiting vampire was a threat that curled an unnameable dread through her core.

If her grandmother was here, they would risk life and death together. If and when she found the chance, she would have to take it.

Her grandmother would have insisted on it.

Hyde stood up, wiping his hands on his napkin after devouring his burger. With a swift motion, he grabbed the leather jacket off the chair and slid his arms into the sleeves, adjusting it across his shoulders before turning to her.
