Pulling the sheets up around her bare breasts, she shivered in the cool air of the room. A smile turning her lips up. A red rose rested on the black satin pillow that he no longer laid on. Her ring, that she had buried deep in the jewellery box, was now tied with a red ribbon around the steam. An elegant hand written note lying to the side.

Her breathing easing at just the thought of him. He must have left the bed after she dozed off. His scent still lingering on the sheets. On her. She blushed a little at the thought and nervously bit her lip before picking up the note.

Her body was curled up on its side as she tried to push the memory of his warm touch out of her mind. Focusing on the note. His hand writing had a beautiful arc to the words flowing across the page. Elegant and classy, she could almost hear his seductive voice.

Marry me

The words making her heart skip a little faster.

I need you; I love you, and I cannot wait anymore. Marry me on the full moon, marry me on your birthday. Just say that you will marry me.

Talia's eyes fluttered shut as she pressed her nose into the rose, savoring its delicate scent. She was going to get married. With a smile on her face, she gently untied the red ribbon, and the ring fell into her waiting palm.

As she lay back on the rumbled sheets, she slid the ring onto her left hand, admiring how the black diamond caught the light. Everything was just perfect.

CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

With a soft breath, Talia straightened her shoulders. The white satin and lace clinging to her figure, outlining every curve.

Blinking back the tears, she breathed deep. It was not the same without her grandmother, and surprisedly she even missed her mother in this moment. But staring at herself in the dress, her hands shaking, she couldn’t repress the swell of emotion or excitement. She really was going to do it. She was going to marry him, her true soul mate.

How many girls got to do that? And know for sure that forever meant forever.

“So does it fit?” Ghost’s impatient voice sounded through the curtain.

Perfectly. The dress fit her perfectly.

Nodding to the shop attendant, she turned. Making her way out of the dressing room, she smiled at Ghost as she moved to the wall of mirrors at the front of the boutique. Stepping up onto the small platform, her hands pressing together across her lips as she gasped softly.

This was definitely the one. The exquisite French lace flowing over the bodice and semi sheer corset to fall in a soft, subtle pattern over the ivory skirt. The sparkle of diamonds that were woven into the lace, shimmering like a touch of magic in the sunlight streaming through the window.

Moving behind her, Ghost shooed the attendant away, lifting the attached train to fall around her.

“What do you think?” Half turning in the mirror to take in the low back, Talia met Ghost’s eyes in the mirror.

“It is beautiful” Ghost’s words were grudging as she stepped back. “Once the veil is in place, it will help to hide the lacerations” With her powers still suppressed, any ability she had to heal the wounds was gone. Today, the stitched wounds were bare. Red and raw, they were hard to miss.
