He rolled his eyes. “Are you honestly saying if a woman is into me she’d stop because of my sock tattoo?”

“Yes? That’s exactly what I’m telling you.” She nodded her head vigorously.

“Fine.” He crossed his arms over his chest like a petulant child. “What if you put it on my ass?”

Kia narrowed her eyes. God, this just kept getting better and better. “Where were you thinking?”

He stood and turned so his back was to her. With his hand, he gestured to where he was thinking.

Kia snorted. “Yeah, that would be a no. I’m not doing that either. A month from now you’ll be trying to get the damn thing removed.”

“What do you mean? It’s funny.” His beady eyes flicked around the shop like he was looking for someone to back him up.

She pinned him with a look, making sure her face left no question about how asinine she thought the idea was. “It would look like you were going to be fucked by a pickle. No.”

The guy bounced in his seat. “That’s why it would be funny.”

There was not enough money in the world. There was no way she was attaching her name to this shit. “No.”

“No?”

“No.” She stared him down. What an idiot. People did this all the time. Thought a tattoo was a great idea, then they realized it was permanent and had made a big mistake. The last thing she wanted was for one of her tattoos to show up on some redo show. Nope.

“You seriously won’t do the ink?”

“I won’t do it. If that’s what you have your heart set on, you’re going to have to find another artist.” She leaned back in her chair and crossed her foot over her knee to settle in.

“Fine.” He shoved his chair back as he stood. The metal legs scraped against the floor with a loud screech. “This shop sucks anyway.” His loud, angry voice drew all eyes toward him.

Kia looked over at Viper and shrugged. So much for that consultation. Nice start to the day.

She glanced up at the clock. The thigh piece she had next would take up most of the day, then Jeff and his friend would be there around four. Hopefully, that consultation went better.

Chapter Thirteen

Jeffpulledthedooropen to Freedom Tattoo and wandered over to his friends as the three of them stood looking at the wall of drawings. “Hey guys.”

They all turned around when he spoke.

“Did you check in already?” He nodded toward the vacant front counter.

“Nah, we were waiting for you.” Gonzo wrapped his arm around Jeff’s shoulder. “You’re lucky I love you. I wouldn’t mar my body for just anybody you know.”

“Says the guy who has a tattoo of a piece of bacon on his thigh.”

“That’s different. I lost a bet.”

“No shit.” Jeff walked up to the front counter and glanced toward the back of the shop. A dark-haired man with tattoos covering half of his face stepped out from the back. “Hi, what can I do for you?”

“Hey, we have a consult with Kia.”

“Kia,” the guy called.

A moment later, Kia walked out and just like every other time he saw her, Jeff was instantly struck by how incredibly beautiful she was.

“Damn, no wonder you guys made such a cute kid,” Gonzo murmured.

“Shut up.” Jeff elbowed his friend in the ribs before turning his attention back to her. “Hey, Kia.”
