Ryan grins as I nod. “The show is about to start, gentlemen. Let’s hope it’s a good one.”

I take my seat and after a few minutes we hear a commotion heading our way as Diana struggles in the grip of two soldiers, screaming, “Let go of me, you fucking bastards!”

I watch the women look up with interest as Diana is pulled roughly to a stop in front of the table and hisses, “You’ve had your fun, now let me go. You won’t get away with this.”

“With what?” I shrug, lifting a glass of wine to my lips and she yells, “Locking me up like an animal, with no food and only a rank bottle of water! How fucking dare you treat me like this after all we’ve shared?”

“All being the operative word.” Dom laughs out loud and Matteo smirks as Diana changes direction. She plasters on her sweetest expression and whispers, “Please, Leo. I’m begging you, For old time’s sake, let me leave. I promise you will never see me again. The governor…”

“Oh yes, the governor.” I interrupt. “The same governor who has a wife who is unaware her shelf life is about to expire if you have your way.”

Diana’s eyes narrow. “I don’t know what you are talking about?”

She catches sight of her sister and decides she may be more amenable and says with apparent fear, “Flora, please. Tell them to let me go. I’m your sister. I love you and I know you love me.”

I watch with interest as Flora stands and heads toward her sister and stares at her with such a hurt expression it causes Domenico to growl ominously in this throat.

“Love.”

Flora shakes her head sadly. “You never really understood the meaning of that word, did you, Diana?”

“Of course I did. I do.” Diana reaches for her and Flora steps back and says sadly. “When you murdered our mother, was that an act of love?”

Diana gasps as Flora hisses, “Giselle told us what happened, and it was you all along. You were so desperate to take her place as Carlos Matasso’s whore and removed the one obstacle in your way.”

“She’s a liar!”

Diana screams and Flora says angrily, “Why would she lie? She had no reason for that. To be honest, I always knew because of the light in your eyes when you told me she was dead. Our father was angry, devastated even, and yet sent us away and never looked for us again. Our own grandmother warned me about you not long before she died. Did you have a hand in that too? I wouldn’t put it past you.”

Diana resembles roadkill about to be struck head on and then shrugs, her laughter washing away any potential compassion.

“Stupid old fool. She was a witch and deserved to die.”

Flora steps forward and slaps Diana so hard across the face she stumbles, and the noise scares the birds from the trees.

“I hate you.” Flora sobs as Domenico stands abruptly and reaches her side before Diana can retaliate and roars, “Just say the fucking word, Leo!”

Diana shrinks back at the rage in his eyes and glances around her for an escape as the eyes of everyone on the terrace are entertained by her fear.

“Guys, please, you’re pathetic.” She stands firm and gazes around her with derision.

“You were so easy to fool, the lot of you. Mario was right, you’re the walking dead and you don’t even realize it.”

She turns to me and hisses, “You think you’re the big don. The main man and running this family will be easy. You’re a fool, Leo, and you always have been. It was like fucking an emotionless robot and even your father had a bigger dick.”

She curls her lip and glances across at Chastity and smirks. “Good luck with that, darling. You’re gonna need it.”

She spins to face Matteo and laughs out loud. “Always so calculating, darling, so sure you have all the facts. When you married that bitch Mario was obsessed with, I could have kissed you. I thanked you from the bottom of my heart because it tore the bastard’s heart out. What was left, anyway. You thought I loved Mario.” She laughs out loud and stares at Matteo before looking around at the interested group watching. “I hated the bastard. I always did.”

“Keep telling yourself that, Diana.” I say with deepening anger. “He treated you like the dumb whore you are, and you played his sick games because you would do anything for him.”

“Him! You think I loved him?”

She throws back her head and laughs out loud. “I have onlyeverloved one man.”

The rears run down her face as she sobs, “You took him from me when it was meant to be MY FUCKING TIME!”

She yells suddenly, staring at Dom with rage in her eyes. “You fucking murdered the one man I have always loved and was about to be rewarded for that. Carlos told me to bide my time and when the Ortega Mafia was his, we would run it together. Giselle would suffer an unfortunate accident and we could be together at last. It was all about him. All about Carlos and I would do anything for him. Ididanything for him.”
