“Yes, Linc?” Trish answers.

“Can you check the brewery schedules and tell me if Quinn Walker is working today at Silver Park?”

“I don’t have to, she works a consistent nine-to-five on weekdays there, sometimes more if she has to fill in at night,” Tricia replies.

“I know. Just making sure she isn’t using a personal day or something,” I reply.

“Let me check.”

I look at Roman, who’s chewing on that inane toothpick and looking at his phone.

“Yep, she’s in today,” Tricia replies.

“Thanks. We’re going to stop by later, but please don’t inform her. Thanks, Trish.” I click off and say, “I’ll have Lucas meet us downstairs at two.”

“Perfect.” He stands and leaves the office.

Not at all liking the strange swirling feeling in my stomach as I open the door to the brewery/pub, I try my best to ignore it, except it roars to life when I spot the leggy brunette behind the computer register, touching the screen with a deep concentration on her pretty face. I stare at her pouty lips and the soft pink glow on her cheeks. I will my gaze to stay on her face and not drift down her body.

“Welcome to Silver Park, I’ll be right with—” She looks up and sees us, immediately stopping what she’s doing to head in our direction. “Well, howdy, bosses!”

I bite back a smile.

“Howdy yourself,” Roman says, chuckling.

“Late lunch today, guys?” she asks.

I shake my head. “No, business, unfortunately.”

“Let’s go back to my office, shall we?” She looks at one of the servers. “Maria, hold down the fort, I’ll be back in two shakes. Okay?”

“Yes, Ms. Quinn,” she replies, looking at us with wide eyes. Then she smiles demurely and slides some dark hair behind her ear while she greets us both. “Hello, Mr. Silverstone. Mr. Silverstone.”

We both nod and follow Quinn back to her office. “Sorry, I only got the one chair. I’ll stand if y’all wanna sit.”

“No, we’re okay,” Roman says. “We’re here for two things. Now, normally, I wouldn’t come down just for this, but since Linc was coming already, I tagged along.”

She looks distressed as she glances at me. Our eyes lock and she eventually moves her gaze back to my cousin. “What is it? Nothin’ bad I hope?”

Roman hands her the phone. “Read that review and tell me what happened.”

She quickly scans it, her brow furrowing. I observe as her free hand clenches and unclenches.

Quinn hands the phone back to Roman. “Well, this, ah, mature woman and her daughter came in to dine. They ordered steak tips with a side of extra mash. The daughter ordered a side of broccoli, but then later claimed she ordered the green beans, so without sayin’ a word, I brought her out green beans. Then the daughter complained they had onjuns in them. So I took out the onjuns and brought her a new bowl of them. I charged her for the extra side because she ate all the broccoli and didn’t touch the green beans, even after I brought her new ones. And the Kar… the older lady ate almost all the steak tips before complaining they were too well done. I brought her out some medium rare ones, charged her only once for those. She thought we should have comped them completely, even after she asked for the new ones to be wrapped up to go.”

“Typical entitled behavior,” I murmur, shaking my head.

Quinn points at me. “Exactly!”

“Okay, I just needed to talk to you before I responded,” Roman says, typing on the phone.

“I’ve told you to stop doing that. Those reviews are for the customers, not the business owners,” I remind him.

“I don’t care. She’s not going to try to ruin this place’s rep with her lies and bullshit,” he says, walking out of the office while typing on his phone.
