His thrusts become erratic and his breath heavy. Just when I think he’s about to come, he pulls me off his dick with an audible pop and lifts me onto the edge of the counter. My legs wrap around his waist instinctively, my hands rest on his shoulders for balance. Both hands gripping my waist, he’s inside of me with one hard thrust.

A needy moan escapes my lips, and I lean back on my elbows, giving him more room. He bends down and captures my lips in a searing kiss while his thumb finds my still sensitive clit. Pleasure shoots to my core as he works his thumb in circles. I gyrate my hips against his thumb, whimpering against his lips.

Resting his forehead against mine, he continues to move deep inside me. “Come,mo ghrá. Come with me,” he pants as his hips slam into mine.

As if waiting for his approval, my second orgasm finally crests, a scream of pleasure spilling from my lips. As my pussy clenches around him, he roughly grips my hips once more, pushing his dick deeper inside me as his own climax follows.

“Fuck, Natalia,” he groans out, his voice husky.

“That was some apology,” I mutter breathlessly.

He chuckles and pulls out before he gently puts me back down on my feet. He kisses the top of my head as he reaches behind me, grabbing a dishtowel. After he cleans up our mess, he turns around and walks to the kitchen table.

When he turns around, he’s holding a bouquet of flowers. My mouth drops as I admire the beautiful blue and purple colors. I close the distance between us and take the flowers from him.

“These are beautiful,” I whisper and give him a small smile.

“I fucked up today,” he reaches out and pulls me to him, careful not to squash the flowers. “I shouldn’t have snapped at you, and I should have taken you with me to deal with the theft issue.”

“What theft issue?” I ask, my eyebrows pulling together.

“Someone stole two million dollars worth of product from our warehouse this week,” he explains. “That’s what I was stressed about earlier when you came in.”

“Did you figure it out?” I question, trying to keep the hurt from my voice. Judging by the blood that is on the collar of the shirt in his hand, he did.

“Yes, and they were taken care of accordingly.” He leans down and kisses the top of my head.

“I accept your apology. Your dad being here threw me off guard,” I look down at the floor. “The way he looks at me with such disgust, like it’s my fault our families fell out… it just bothers me.”

“Nat,” he lifts my chin. “You don’t need to explain yourself to me,” he tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. “Besides, as of this evening, I have officially taken over as head of the O’Connor family.” He grins down at me.

Chapter twenty-six

Declan

Watching Natalia put her flowers in a vase, I lean against the counter with my arms across my chest. “If you’re still up for that trip, I can make a phone call and have us on the plane in the next couple hours,” I state.

“I’m going to kill Finn.” Natalia turns to glare at me. If I didn’t know how much she enjoyed his company I’d fear for my friends life.

“Don’t shoot the messenger. He was just trying to help us out,” I say as I bend over and grab our clothes off the floor. “So, what do you say?”

“Are you sure? I know you have a lot going on here…” She starts, but I quickly interrupt her.

“Natalia, I’m sure. I know you wanted to do this for us, and I’m sorry I wasn’t able to fulfil it for you.”

“Fine. Give me my dress and go make that call.” She reaches her hand out, impatiently tapping her foot. “We are going on this trip before everything gets crazy with wedding planning.”

I grin with a nod and hand her the dress before sliding my pants on, grabbing my phone off the counter. “I’ll be back.”

Going into my office, I call the pilot and inform him we will be at the airport in two hours. He assures me things will be ready for takeoff, and I disconnect the call. I slump down in my chair and run a hand through my already disheveled hair. Just as I lean my head back and close my eyes, the room is filled with the ringing of my phone.

Picking up the annoying device, I groan seeing my father's name across the screen. “Yeah?” I answer the call, hoping the irritation shows through my voice.

“Where exactly are you going?” He asks. Damn it, I was hoping to at least be in the air by the time he found out. The pilot must have reported back to him. I make a mental note to take care of that tonight.

“Well, not that it’s any of your business, but I am going away with my fiancée,” I grind out.I can feel the disdain dripping through the phone as my father speaks once more.

“You haven’t even been in charge for five hours and you’re already running off?”
