I leaned over and kissed her softly. “Take your time. There’s no rush.”

She did, trying on several dozen rings with a mixture of diamonds, emeralds, rubies, and sapphires in them. As she moved down the counter, I knew the moment she spotted the ring of my choice. Her sharp intake of breath told me I’d chosen wisely.

She picked up the pink diamond ring I’d examined earlier and slid it on to her left ring finger, before waving it around under the light. “This is just gorgeous. What do you think?”

“I think it’s exquisite, just like you. Perhaps the young lady here can tell us more about it?”

The blonde woman, whose name tag declared her to be Anna, nodded enthusiastically. “This pink diamond was mined in Western Australia, in the Argyle Mine. The color is considered to be fancy vivid, one of the best colors available. It’s a two-carat princess cut diamond on a solid gold band.”

Emilia’s brows furrowed. “How much is it?”

“This ring is one hundred and thirty thousand dollars.”

I didn’t give a shit how expensive it was. If this was the ring the love of my life wanted, I’d buy it for her. “If this is the ring you want, Em, it’s yours.”

Her hand came up to rest on my chest and she tipped her head back to gaze up at me. I leaned over and brushed a kiss on her mouth. “I love it.”

“This is the ring you want?”

“This is the ring I want.”

“Wonderful.” I reached for my wallet and turned back to the sales assistant. “We’ll take the ring, thank you.” Pulling out my black credit card, I handed it over to Anna. She launched into action, processing the sale and giving us a world-famous robin’s egg blue ring box, along with the receipt.

“Congratulations on your engagement.”

We thanked her for her good wishes and I tipped her one thousand dollars before heading back downstairs to our car. I also gave the manager a grand for opening the store especially for us and then climbed into the back of the car with Emilia.

After instructing Stuart to take us home, I wrapped my arms around my fiancée as she cuddled close. Once we arrived back at the penthouse, we changed out of our work clothes.

I placed an order for takeout and couldn’t stop myself from kissing her fingers over and over. The ring which now sat upon her left hand was a symbol, not only of our love, but that she was mine.

Emilia Quinn was mine forever, and once everyone saw that pink diamond upon her finger, they would know that. The idea gave me a sense of belonging. While we’d long been best friends and partners, this was something different, something deeper.

I finally felt whole for the first time in my life.

Later that night, I stripped her naked and made her come on both my tongue and my cock, but the ring remained in place.
