“Would you look at that, it’s lunch time and I am hungry, I am going to go get myself some lunch now.”
Ryan says and excuses himself.
“Luca, you know I can’t do that. I can’t just pack up and follow you.”
I say turning to face him.
“Why not?” He asks
“Well, for one, the whole Stella and the media blowback. We’re still recovering from that and moving with you seems like testing the fates too early.”
“I don’t see how, everyone already knows we’re together, it wouldn’t make a difference.”
He says with so much conviction I almost laugh.
“It would. We have to give them time to settle I to the idea of us, plus this whole thing with us is so new and it’s still very complicated and I just want us to take our time. Can we do that?”
“I want everything with you Evelyn, everything you’re willing to give me. But I’m a patient man, I’ll wait.” Luca says and my heart melts.
“Thank you. Besides, I love working here and Ryan is going to be an amazing boss.” I say feeling my excitement return.
“Better than I was?”
He asks and I smile,
“Well, we won’t be sneaking make out sessions with the binds closed and I won’t be able to ogle him shamelessly while he works with his sleeves rolled up, but I can still make it work”
He pauses for a bit then he stands.
“I think we can go home now” and I burst out laughing.
“It’s not even two yet”
“I’m the mayor, I make the rules.” He says pulling me ho by my hands.
“Don’t be silly Luca. There’s a ton of work to get done and Stella is supposed to come in very soon”
That seems to sober him up.
It’s been a few days since we found out Stella was the one behind everything, I knew there was something about her that just didn’t sit right with me. And I was right. She was a low life criminal, well technically she hired others to commit the crimes for her but still, she sucked.
“I don’t knowwhy we can’t just send her to jail, it’s what she deserves.” Luca said and I nod, and I do agree with him.
“I know, but her kids and her husband are innocent and the blowback on them wouldn’t be fair.” I say and he nods.
“At least she’ll be out of our lives for good.” I say and Luca nods.
“That’s the bright side.”
Lucaand I are seated in his office when Stella walks in through the door.
I hate that even now she still looks so good. Does she roll out of bed looking like a goddess?
“Have a seat Stella”Luca pointing to the one beside me.
“I see you both are not even trying to hide it anymore, your affairs just out there for everyone to see isn’t it?”
Stella says and I feel like slowing her lips off her face.
