I take a deep breath when he disappears from sight.

Sharing space with Owen for two days isn’t going to be easy.

He’srightthere.

In touching distance.

In kissing distance.

InI’m putting your red thong in my pocketdistance.

But more than that, he’s right there showing me his thoughtful, attentive side.

Two nights ago, I wondered whether Owen is the kind of man who feels a connection fast. I’m not sure why I even questioned that. He’s been connecting with me from the very first night we met. And not just on a surface level.

It’s that side of him that will make it hard for me to keep my hands to myself over the next few days.

Sex for me is so much more than the physical.

It’s also how we spend our time before the actual sex. The time spent talking, the going deeper, the lingering looks, the care taken, the respect shown, the little things that no one else thinks of.

Great sex isn’t just a physical act for me.

It’s emotional.

It’s how I express my feelings over all the little things a man does for me and with me.

Owen can undo his shirt buttons, he can wear gym clothes I die for, he can look at me with those blue eyes I want to get naked in, and he can kill me with that growly voice of his. I can survive all that and keep my hands to myself.

What I know Ican’tsurvive are all the little things.

Being in close proximity with Owen like we are will give him the chance to do so many of those little things I already know he’s good at.

My hands won’t have a hope in hell of staying by my side if that happens.

Owenand I work our asses off today. And we do it in sync.

There’s only one boss I’ve ever had who I worked better with than Owen. It’s exhilarating. To move through a workday, achieving everything you set out to, with ease, and doing that by someone’s side who you know is feeling everything you are. It’s been many years since I’ve felt like this in my work, and I find it hard to contain the energy it gives.

Owen kicked the conference off with a keynote address that had every attendee on their feet applauding him at the end. Keynote speakers have a goal of setting the tone and dictating the energy of an event, and Owen showed why he was the one asked to give this address. The conference is abuzz with excitement for what’s to come.

The meetings he had with potential investors also went well. I was impressed with how he communicates and gets his ideas across. Owen has the kind of charisma that could convince most people to do whatever he wants them to, and I’ve seen it up close all day.

Tahlia was right when she told me he’s a little too good at networking and needs managing at times. I’ve had to step in twice today and redirect his attention. Both times, he gave me a look of gratitude that was tinged with some heat when he glanced down at my hand on his arm.

“That seemed to go well,” Owen says after he closes the door to our suite at 5:30 p.m. He just met with a potential investor who I didn’t really care for, but who he appeared to get on well with.

I cock my head. “Did you like him as much as you looked like you did?”

He smiles, reaching for his phone that has just sounded with a text. Before he checks the message, he answers my question. “If I liked all my clients, I wouldn’t have a business.”

“Is that a no, then?”

“That’s a no,” he confirms, glancing at his phone. “Fuck,” he mutters as he reads the text. Then, he says, “I’ll have to meet you at the cocktail party. Something’s come up that Julian needs me to take care of.”

“Okay.” I paste my best stern expression on my face. “But if this is your way of getting out of the party, there will be hell to pay.” He’s told me at least twice today that he finds these cocktail parties at conferences a chore.
