“Kansas!”

I heard one of my brothers shout my name the second I entered the small diner just on the outskirts of Wichita Falls, TX. We’d been down this way on a run for the club. It was our standard weekly run, which was nothing new. Like clockwork, we delivered the product and got paid handsomely for it.

Instead of rushing back home, the brothers wanted to eat. I agreed, in no hurry to head back myself. Though my reasons had nothing to do with hunger.

It was the same old motherfucking fight.

I wanted to buy a house and my Katie flat out refused. If it wasn’t for the fact that I loved that woman and she was carrying my son, I would have long ago kicked her ass to the curb. No woman could get under my skin like my Katie. I fell in love with that bitch the second I laid eyes on her, and she knew it.

Our courtship was short.

Like a cat’s dick short.

I met my wife by chance.

I was getting a blowjob from one of the club whores when she walked in looking all innocent and pure. I didn’t know who she was, or why she was at a club party, but I knew she was mine. Pushing the slut off my dick, I zipped myself back up and went to claim what I knew was mine. Three days later, she was on the back of my bike and in my bed. Two weeks after that, she had my ring on her finger.

According to the club, I had the shortest courtship in club history.

I didn’t give a fuck.

Katie was mine, and I wasn’t going to fucking wait to claim her. A few weeks later and we were pregnant. My Katie loved the club life. She loved everything about it, from the rough brothers to the wild parties. There wasn’t a damn thing she didn’t like. She took to the life fast and never looked back. According to my woman, the club was her family, and she was never leaving.

That’s when our troubles started.

While I enjoyed living at the club, I wanted more. Katie was pregnant with my kid, and I wanted her set up in a safe neighborhood and in a proper house. Only Katie flat out refused. She hated the idea of not being around the club and the brothers. I got where she was coming from. Being the neglected daughter of a drunken prostitute and never knowing her real father had taken its toll on her. When she found the Diamondbacks, the club and ol’ ladies accepted her, and my Katie held on for dear life.

I tried to explain that she would still have the club and the ol’ ladies, but she refused to listen. We got into a huge fight and in the end, I said something I regretted.

Taking a seat across from Pence, my brother leaned over and whispered. “She answer?”

“No,” I replied, putting my cellphone back in my cut. “She’s going to stay pissed until my kid is born. I know it.”

Pence chuckled. “Nah. Let Vivi talk to her. Trust me. When we get home, Katie will be happy to see you.”

I wasn’t so sure. Something in my gut told me I went too far, and I’d lost her forever. As soon as the deal was done and we pulled into the diner for lunch, I tried calling and texting for several minutes, to no avail. My woman was flat out ignoring me.

Looking around the table at my brothers, I asked. “Did anyone call Big Jim and tell him we’re in the clear and the cash is good?”

When heads shook no, I sighed.

Reaching for my phone, it started ringing. Seeing the Lawton PD number, I looked at Pence before answering. “Yeah?”

“Kansas, it’s Justin.”

The tone of his voice had the hairs on the back of my neck standing up. Something was seriously wrong. Justin wouldn’t just call me out of the blue.

Gripping the phone tight, I asked. “What happened?”

“How soon can you get to the clubhouse?”

Sitting up straight, I asked. “Why?”

“Just get here soon.”

Before I could ask another question, Justin hung up the phone as Pence’s rang.
