Ignoring the suck-up, I looked at Conroy. “Who found them?”

“Actually, it was Ben who called it in. By the time we got here, Ben was dead. Single shot to the chest.”

“So, the killer waited?” I asked curiously.

“That’s what we are thinking, but it doesn’t make sense. Serrano prefers to leave the scene when he’s done. He’s never stayed before. Plus, there is the fact that this scene is different.”

“What do you mean?”

“Both men died from a single gunshot to the chest.”

“Then it wasn’t Serrano, Conroy,” I said, reaching for my pack of smokes. Lighting a cigarette, I blew smoke before adding. “If it was Serrano, he would have been long gone before young Ben arrived. His father’s body would be decorating the walls, just like the other two. This, whatever it is… was not Serrano. You have another killer on the loose. Which means this is a Lawton PD problem and doesn’t concern me or my club. Sorry Justin, but I’m walking away from this one. I can’t help you.”

Turning to leave, I stopped dead in my tracks when Porter stated, “Then explain why your name is on the wall written in blood, Mr. Stone?”

“What the fuck did you just say?” I asked, turning back around.

Justin solemnly nodded. “He’s right Kansas. Whoever did this wrote your name on the wall.”

Before I could utter another word, I heard Payne state flatly as he handed a card to each of the men standing next to me. “If you have any more questions for Mr. Stone, you can contact his attorney at this number. Until then, he is leaving. Detective Conroy, you have his place of work and his home address. Good luck, gentlemen, but we are leaving.”

With that, Payne grabbed my cut and pulled me away from the law enforcement. Talking quickly on his phone, he relayed everything that had happened before handing me his phone.

Getting on my bike, I said, “Yeah?”

“Keep your fucking mouth shut until Mom arrives. I’ve already contacted her. The board members will ride out within the next day. Whatever is going on, you are going to need the Soulless Sinners. Buckle up, little brother, your actual family is coming for a visit.”

Fuck me.

There goes the neighborhood.

Kali

We heard the pipes long before the club pulled into the driveway.

“PREZ HERE!” my daughter screeched loudly, running around the side of the house. Trigger racing after her.

“And that, ladies and gentlemen, was my daughter.”

Charity and Hope laughed.

“That girl would be a damn good general,” Cassidy muttered, bringing out bowls of chips and cookies.

“Let me help,” Charity said, rushing over.

“I can’t thank you enough for allowing us to come today, Kali. We tend to stick to ourselves,” Hope said softly. She was a sweet woman. Shy and gentle. From what I saw, Hope preferred to allow Charity to do the talking. There was nothing wrong with that, but my gut was telling me there was a story in her sad eyes.

“Hey, babe,” hands wrapped around me, hugging me from behind. Turning, I leaned my head up as Kansas quickly kissed me. I noticed the strain on his face. Something was wrong, but before I could ask, Talia came bounding over.

“Momma, Prez said I could ride his bike if I eat all my veggies!”

“No, I said I would let you sit on my bike. Not ride it.”

“But I want to ride,” my daughter huffed.

“Come here, Hellraiser,” Trigger said, moving to take the little troublemaker away before World War III started. “You eat all your food and you can ride my bike.”
