I was going to kill him!

“TRIGGER!”

Putting Talia back down on her feet, I didn’t have to wait long for the bane of my existence to show his ugly mug. Walking into my office, he smiled as if nothing was wrong.

“Yeah, Prez?”

“Just what in the hell are you and Hellraiser watching when no one is around to police your ass?”

“Nuttin,Prez. We watch Disney movies.”

“I don’t remember any Disney movies where someone gets shot in the face!”

“Huh?”

“The funny movie, Tig,” Talia piped up, eager to help her friend remember. What she didn’t realize was that she was helping her friend meet his maker, which I was perfectly okay with.

“What funny movie?”

“The one with the light in the box,” my daughter helped.

“Oh,” Trigger paled, backing up. “Now Prez. It’s not what you think. The theater was showing the uncut version. I never saw it. It was for one day only.”

Getting to my feet, Talia held tightly to my neck. It was a damn good thing for Trigger that she was in my arms because she was holding me back from jumping my desk and strangling him. Growling, I asked, “What movie did you take my daughter to go see?”

Gulping, Trigger backed up a few more steps. “Pulp Fiction.”

“You took my three-year-old daughter to see a Quentin Tarantino movie!”

“She loved it. Laughed at all the funny parts. I covered her eyes during the bad shit,” my brother explained quickly, as if it would save his life. I got that he bonded with Talia and the two were thick as thieves, but she was only three years old. Okay, she was about to be four, but there were things a four-year-old wasn’t ready to see. Pulp Fiction was one of them.

Talia poked my shoulder, getting my attention. “Tig was talking to the pretty lady, Prez. He made a new friend.”

Turning back to Trigger, I saw the culprit waving his hand across his neck, trying to stop Talia from narking on him, but it was done. The fucker took my daughter to see a rated R movie then ignored her so he could get into the pants of the woman he met. Yeah.

He was toast.

“Kansas,” Payne said, walking in, only to stop when he saw the standoff going on. Looking from me to Trigger, the man sighed. “Whatever’s going on can wait. I’ve got Sypher on the phone. We need to talk.”

Refusing to let this one go, I handed my daughter off to Payne as I walked over to Trigger. Looking the brother up and down, I growled. “You and I are going to do three rounds in the cage. Maybe I’ll beat some common sense into your head.”

Before Trigger could comment, I reached back and punched him in the stomach. Holding him as he doubled over, I whispered in his ear. “That’s just a taste of what’s coming, Trigger. Now take Talia to Mrs. Worthington because, as of right now, you’re grounded.”

Taking a few deep breaths, Trigger nodded as he walked over and took Talia from Payne. Taking my seat back behind my desk, I rubbed my hands down my face.

“Do I even want to know?” Payne asked, taking a seat.

“No,” I groaned. “Put the phone on speaker.”

Moments later, I heard Sypher shout, “I’ll tell him, Pippen! Just give me a fucking minute.”

Payne moaned. “Pippen, what the fuck are you doing with Sypher?”

“It’s a long story, Payne,” the unknown voice said quickly.

“Do I know what?” my brother asked, walking into my office with my father and Pence.

I wasn’t in the mood for twenty questions. Clearing my voice, I said, “Sypher. I don’t have all day.”
