“I thought she gave you everything you needed?”

“She did,” I said. “I just… I like the art gallery.”

Riff raised an eyebrow. He didn’t believe me for a second.

Which was fine.

I didn’t believe myself either.

“If it has anything to do with me being here, I’m leaving soon,” Riff said.

“Why would anything have to do with you?”

“The shower scene was pretty hot, Fi.”

“Oh, that? That was nice. Yeah. I had fun. Why would I run from that? That’s exactly what I wanted.”

Riff nodded.

“What?” I asked.

His jaw tightened for a second.

Great. Here we go again.

“You coming and going…”

“Coming,” I said. “Did that in the shower. Twice. Well done, Griffin.”

I gave him a little clap.

“Fi,” he said. “I’m being serious.”

“Don’t be.”

“You’re going to get caught here,” he said. “If there’s too much movement. You know that, right?”

“And I told you I’m not going to be a hermit. I’m not going to hide. Plus, Demi is on the other side of town. If my brother is over there for any reason, I’d be shocked. I’ve got this worked out in my head.”

“I’m sure you do,” Riff said.

“Then stop bringing it up.”

Riff showed his hands. Submission. “Fine. That’s what I’ll do then.”

He went back into his bedroom.

I began to pack up some stuff and then I pulled my wet hair back into a bun.

A few minutes later both Riff and I were ready to leave at the same time together.

We both laughed and he agreed to let me leave first.

“I’ll catch you around,” I said.

“Yeah. I think we’ll meet up again soon.”

He winked.
