The voice made me jump.
I spun around, expecting to see Demi and have her tell me she was ready to leave.
What I did not expect to see was my brother’s wife staring at me with a surprised look on her face.
“Mari,”I said, forcing a happy tone.
“Fiona. That’s really you?”
Their dog Honey came rushing at me.
I crouched down and let the rambunctious dog jump at me.
She spun around a few times, tangling herself in her leash.
Then she collapsed to the floor, smiling at me, tongue wagging, looking for a belly rub.
