Throwing punches back and forth.

Hitting each other in the face and the body.

Tangling up. Pushing away.

Grunting and growling.

Like angry animals fighting over a meal.

Remi grabbed Riff’s shirt. “You could have fucking killed her!”

Riff punched Remi in the jaw and pushed him away. “You don’t think I know that? I can’t fucking sleep at night, man! I can’t stop thinking about it!”

“Sneaking around with my sister?” Remi roared.

He ran at Riff again.

They got tangled and someone tripped.

Both ended up on the ground.

“I didn’t do anything with her,” Riff said. “We were just… hanging out…”

Remi growled and the punches continued.

They then broke apart and quickly got back on their feet.

Remi pointed at Riff. “You stay away. You stay the fuck away, Riff.”

Riff inched closer to Remi.

The raw emotion between the two tore at my heart.

Out of nowhere, they hugged each other.

Tight.

It wasn’t a loving hug, and it didn’t last long.

Remi broke the hug and pushed Riff back.

He pointed again but said nothing else.

Remi walked away, coming back toward the house.

Riff stood there, gasping for breaths.

Rubbing his jaw.

Rubbing his ribs.

I almost wished I never survived the crash.
