I ignored the pain and skated to Lay.

“One up,” I said to him.

“Fuck yeah,” he said. “We’re not wasting this.”

“Focus on the puck,” I said. “Not the tits.”

“I’m good,” he said. “We’re on this end of the ice.”

“I can see you looking still.”

“Can’t help it,” Lay said. “I need her in the locker room.”

“Hey,” Abel said. “This isn’t some fucking rock concert. You’re not a rock star, Lay. You don’t have groupies.”

“I beg to differ,” Lay said with a wink.

I shook my head.

We got set up for the puck drop again.

It was a five-on-four attack, with Abel winning the face-off.

But he was quickly stripped of the puck and it was sent down the ice to Maverick.

I skated to get the puck.

Maverick yelled to me, “Take it yourself.”

I skated around his net, then began to fly down the ice.

Phoenix dropped back to protect their goalie and the net.

I easily skated into their zone and watched from the corner of my eyes as the rest of the guys got set up.

I passed to Remi.

He passed to Reid.

Reid up to Abel.

Abel sent the puck across the ice to me.

I took a shot and missed by a mile.

The puck smacked the boards.

The crowd groaned.

Now I was pissed off.

I threw a shoulder into two Phoenix players.

I was not going to lose the puck.

Elbows thrown. Words said.

I somehow poked the puck free.
