“Hey,” I said.

“What? Don’t get all weird on me, Riff.”

“I was just going to say something.”

“What?”

“Give me a call if you’re ever back in town…”

Chapter Two

FIONA

Imet Dave the night some creep at a bar wouldn’t stop trying to put his hands all over me. Honestly, I was just trying to keep myself out of jail.

Enter Dave.

He pretended to be my boyfriend.

He wasn’t the biggest or meanest guy but he had a brain. A big brain.

I never saw someone fight another man using their brain.

This drunk lunk was ready to throw punches and Dave talked the guy down, then made the guy cry. The guy apologized to me, for trying to touch me and then promised Dave he would go to a therapist and get help.

I’m not lying one bit here. I watched it all with my own two eyes.

I figured that kind of cerebral heroics was worthy of a hand job in the bathroom of the bar.

Dave had the nerve to grab my wrist and tell me…not here. All with a look in his eyes that made me nod.

I regrettably thought to myself,‘Okay, nerd. Let’s see what you’ve got.’

That’s how I ended up with Dave in my bed.

The sex was a seven out of ten.

Dave worried too much to fully enjoy the sex.

While I respected a man who wanted to ensure my pleasure and me climaxing, I did not need that man to constantly stop and ask for a time range.

After a while I felt like myhoo-hawas an egg boiling in water waiting to become hardboiled.

Dave was sweet.

Super sweet.

He did little things that were nice.

Yes, he made sure I had regular orgasms.

Dave was great.

A great guy.

The one thing I realized really quick -besides his counting down obsession with my orgasms- was that the night we met… that was his peak. That was the coolest he had ever been in his entire life. That was his shining star moment when he went to a bar, protected a woman, and made a guy bigger than him cry.

Which meant anything between Dave and I should have been just that night.
