Her sunglasses were as big as her face.

She sat like royalty.

As though she were a super model and the world would cater to her.

I had no idea why my brain decided today would be the day I’d walk around the beach and do some people watching.

But here I was.

The sun was out. Bright, warm, beautiful.

The ocean was soft yet loud.

Wave after wave like breaths.

It just felt good.

I started to walk away when I noticed from the corner of my eye the older woman looking down on the ground.

She lifted her right hand to her sunglasses to take them off.

Her right hand shook so bad, she threw her sunglasses to the ground.

They broke.

My heart sank.

The older woman then reached for the ground.

Her fingertips dancing in all directions.

She was trying to pick something up.

But she was shaking so bad she couldn’t.

I have to help…

I casually walked toward the older woman.

She spotted me right away.

She had the bluest eyes I’d ever seen in my entire life.

Breathtaking eyes.

“Was wondering how long you were going to stare,” she said.

My face burned. “I’m sorry. I just…”

“Wondering why I’m shaking like I saw a ghost?”

“No. Not at all.”

She smiled. “You’re not a very good liar, are you?”

I crouched down. “No. What are you trying to pick up?”

“There’s a penny right there,” she said. “Always pick up a penny when you find it. My grandmother told me they were from heaven. Angels.”
