“Not until he sees a shrink,” Jago said.

I turned and stepped toward Jago.

Henry stopped me and patted my chest. “Don’t make it worse.”

At that moment I felt like nothing could calm me down.

The last thing I needed to see was some happy and in love nonsense shoved down my throat.

Which was exactly what I got.

Atlas stepped into the locker room.

Holding hands with Hazel.

His daughter cradled in his left arm.

Atlas standing as tall as me, always looking mean, unless he was looking at Hazel and the baby.

Atlas looked at me. “Glad you’re here.”

I gave a nod.

“You brought our little mascot,” Rome said as he climbed to his feet.

“Why were you on your knees?” Hazel foolishly asked.

Rome looked right at Hazel. He wiped the corners of his mouth.

He winked. “Needed to cheer Joe up.”

“Oh, man, that’s messed up,” Jago said.

Hazel looked at me.

I didn’t need to say a thing to her. Or anyone.

I had no desire to defend myself.

No need to defend my actions, words, or my silence.

This was a mistake coming here.

I reached down to grab my bag when I felt someone way too close to me for comfort.

It was Atlas.

Standing with his daughter.

I looked at him.

I looked down at the baby.

The baby looked at me.

She smiled.

A huge smile.
