From his bathroom. From his shower.
“I’m surprised you left me alone,” I whispered.
“You said you wanted a nice, hot shower. I took the hint.”
“I didn’t give one. I was just stating something.”
“So I could have joined you?” Joe asked, looking at my reflection in the mirror.
“Again, I’m surprised…”
We both smiled.
My mind quickly did a recap of recent events.

Joe ordered rice bowls from a food truck and we sat on the beach and ate.
