My eyes closing.

My nose tingling with that scent of his.

That rough manly scent.

His skin and cologne mixing into an intense elixir…

My hands shook and started to reach to hug him back.

A voice in my head called out to me ‘NO’ and I changed directions with my hands at the last second, forcing them between Joe and me.

My hands sliding up his chest, to his neck.

I curled my fingers back as far as I could and the palms of my hands pressed at his collarbone.

I pushed back and for a second… he didn’t let me go.

My toes curled in my shoes and all the air escaped my body.

A lightheaded feeling attacked me and I felt my body starting to give out.

“I’ve got you, Anna,” Joe whispered.

“I need to sit,” I blurted out. “Right now.”

I turned and escaped from Joe and sat behind my desk.

My body quivering.

Joe stood on the other side of my desk.

“Okay, listen,” I said, taking a breath. “We have to get back on track here, Joe. We have to-”

“Fuck that,” he snapped. “Fuck hockey. Fuck all this psychology bullshit. Fuck everything. Are you okay, Anna?”

“Am I okay? That’s what you want to ask me?Am I okay?”

“What do you want from me, Anna? Want me to tell you exactly what’s on my mind right now?”

“Go for it, Joe,” I said. “Session starts now.”

“Fuck the session,” he said. “What I want to do has nothing to do with a fucking therapy session.”

Chills inched up my spine. “Oh?”

“What I want to do is come across that desk and kiss you like you’re meant to be kissed. And I bet that would solve half the fucking problems between us.”

The room fell silent.

I knew I had to keep that from happening.

But in my heart, I was secretly waiting for it…

I quickly composed myself.

“Joe. We need to start over. What you just saw was unprofessional and I apologize for it.”

“Oh, cut that crap right out, Anna.”
