This was meant to be fun. Not to harm her.

Beneath my hand, the liquid took on a shimmering quality, and deep in the place my magic rested, I felt the resonance of it being ready.

NowI could go get Skyla.

Time to see if my mate was ready to play.

CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT

____________

SKYLA

BOTTOMS UP

Aknock came on the door of Maggie’s temporary apartment. We were lounging in her living room with Puff, who I’d retrieved from my apartment. The little white ball of energy was having the time of her life exploring a new space.

“It’s one of your guys,” Maggie said. “Bet.”

“Maybe it’s someone who’s going to offer you therideyou so desperately want.”

She snorted, and I dragged myself off the couch to answer the door. I groaned when I looked through the peephole.

“I win don’t I?” she called.

I opened the door to Grave. “I never agreed to bet, so you don’t win shit.”

Grave smirked and spoke low. “Am I interrupting?”

“No.”

“Good.”

Stepping inside, he pulled me to him, kissing me hard and fast. I laughed, breaking away. “You’re not interrupting, but I don’t know how Maggie would feel about you fucking me in her doorway.”

“You are correct, I would not feel positively about that.” She peeked around the corner. “Hi, Grave.”

He nodded in return.

“What’s up?”

One side of his mouth tipped up, and he leaned down to pick up Cream Puff, who was batting at the laces on his boots. “If you’re busy, I can come back later.”

I looked over at the clock. It was later than I expected. “You have something in mind?”

Slowly, his gaze roved over me. “Have you eaten?”

“No.”

“Then I’d like you to eat and we’ll have a talk.”

Maggie laughed. “You sound so serious.”

Wrapping my arms around his neck, I grinned. “He’s always serious. Is everything okay?”

“When it comes to you? Yes.”

A careful answer. So things weren’t great for the club. No surprise there. I looked over my shoulder at Mags. “Will you be utterly devastated if I leave you?”
