“Yes, of course.”
I sat up in bed and tried to make it look like I wasn’t just wallowing in misery before she came in, but it was useless.
“You don’t need to get up on my account,” Valentina said with a smile as she waddled across the room and sat down next to me. “How are you holding up?”
“I’m fine.”
“I noticed you didn’t come down for breakfast. Do you want me to have something brought up to you?”
“No, please don’t go to any trouble.”
