“Leo, thank god! Are you okay?”
“Yes I’m fine. Heading home to you now.”
“Is… is everything taken care of?”
“We’ll talk when I get back. Are you doing okay?”
“I miss you.”
“I miss you too.”
“When will you be here?”
“Soon, I promise. Ares will give you the details.”
“You talked to him?”
“Yeah, he’s been helping me with something. I know I’m interrupting your time with Anthony, so I’ll let you go.”
“It’s okay really, he doesn’t mind.” I looked up at the good old doc to see he was listening intently to my entire conversation.
“I need to get going anyway. We’ll have all the time in the world when I get back.”
“Okay.”
“Tal?”
“Yeah?”
“I’m really proud of you for meeting with him.”
Then just as soon as I went to say goodbye the line cut out. I pulled the phone away from my ear and looked down at it in disbelief.
“That really just happened right?”
“Yes, it did.”
“He’s coming home.”
“How do you feel?”
“Happy, scared. Can I be both at the same time?” A strangled laugh came out before I could stop it. “He’s coming back… he’s really coming back.”
“It is completely normal to have mixed emotions over everything that is going on right now. Leo leads an unconventional life. This is something that you two may experience again, so it’s important to hold on to that happiness whenever you can.”
I nodded as there was a knock on the door.
“Come in.”
“Hey, sorry to interrupt you two but Alessia needs you.”
“I’m sorry, Talia, do you mind giving me just a minute?”
“No, not at all, I’m good, really. If you want we can pick up tomorrow. I think I’d like to call Raven.”
He stood and made his way to the door without really acknowledging what I’d had to say. Valentina gave me a bit more information on the two of them and I had a feeling he was just as crazy about her as I was about Leo. Alessia De Bartoli was a force to be reckoned with. Meeting her at dinner the night before Leo had left was an experience all on its own. If she needed him for something then I certainly wasn’t going to stand in the way.
“She’s with Valentina.”
