I didn’t miss a beat of her steps as she marched forward toward The Walkden Suite, all sassy and bold, except that flushed just fucked look reddening her cheeks. I could have come from that sight alone.
Katherine and Mike had wanted to make the rehearsal drawn out, reconnecting the many people flying in for the event. I was grateful with the plan just so I could stand hand in hand with Savannah, and fuck with Liam Baxter's head.
The moment we walked in, all eyes landed on us, and Katherine immediately landed noticed our linked fingers before I planted a kiss on her head.
I wasn't sure if I was about to be read the riot act as she sauntered up to us both with Mike on her heels, but Savannah's look of adoration and squeeze of my fingers showed she was trying to reduce the tension.
"Are you okay?" Katherine asked, looking between the two of us, as Mike wrapped his arm around her.
"Never better now. River knows," Savannah assured her mother confidently, nodding to the back of the room at Liam and Lindsey whose eyes were focused on the four of us. "We talked."
"I can see that," Mike butted in with a smirk on his face, struggling to hold off his smile. "You hurt her —"
"I know," I cut him off, looking between the pair of them. "I never will. Savannah means too much to me." I smiled as Katherine pulled me in for a hug before stepping back and taking a breath.
The unshed tears between Savannah and Katherine as they hugged tightly, reconciling their differences from earlier, made my heart squeeze tightly.
"Come on then, let's have a toast," Mike commanded, clasping my shoulder as I pulled Savannah into my side, and mouthed, “one foot at a time.”
CHAPTER7
Savannah
I did it.I walked in with my head held high and took my place next to my mother at the table. I had placed the negative thoughts away, realizing the time spent arguing about Liam only added more ammunition for him to potentially use against me. It was the one thing I didn't need. That dick wasn’t going to take control of my thoughts any longer.
With River on my side, I placed my hand on his thigh, moving closer to his cock under the table as the glasses clicked together and silence filled the air.
"I just want to thank everyone for being here today, for coming across open waters" — Mike nodded at us and a pair of other people at the end of the table — "to celebrate this time with both Katherine and myself. I know for some it's been a hard trip, but I'm glad they took the plunge. I hope they find the happiness that we both have," Mike concluded his speech, pushing himself from the table and walking around behind us, before nodding at River, and kissing me on the cheek.
"Thank you," I replied, struggling to contain the bubbled emotions from within. "It means a —"
"Bullshit," Liam shouted and stood up, knocking his chair backward, and grasped the table in front of him.
Chairs scraped backward as River's arms encased me in his, my mother to one side and Mike next to River’s.
"I think it's time you leave," Mike seethed through gritted teeth, flitting his eyes between Lindsey and him.
"Not until —"
"What, Liam?" River screamed, keeping my shaking body in his arms as I focused on my breathing.
