"Oh really?" It shouldn't surprise me he'd done that. It wouldn't even surprise me if he told me he had the rest of my life planned out. For at least a second or two, while standing beside Mum, I thought he'd tell me he'd arranged for us to get married too. I wouldn't put it past him.

I sure as hell wasn't going to say that out loud, in case he got any ideas. I was definitelynotready to get married.

"More and more, we're moving into digital methods to do what we do," he said slowly.

"Cybercrime," I said flatly.

"Something like that," he said, not looking even slightly ruffled. "It wouldn't hurt to have someone like you to keep our rivals from hacking us. If you wanted to take it a little further…"

"Mannix Cassani, are you suggesting I use my degree to become a cyber criminal?" I asked. I wasn't sure if I was amused or offended at the suggestion. "Do I look like a hacker?"

He grinned. "Kennedy Knight, I'm certain you can be whatever you want to be. You're smart enough to get into any bank in the world and make yourself a billionaire if you wanted to."

"I think you might be giving me a bit too much credit, but thank you." It was one thing to create security systems and another to get past those created by someone else. Although, with the resources Mannix and his family had, I could probably do it with a bit of time.

"What would I do with a billion dollars anyway?" I asked.

"Anything you want," he replied. "Haven't you always wanted a private jet?"

"Not really," I admitted. "I'd prefer a private helicopter. Much easier to take off and land wherever you want."

He looked proud at my answer. "I was thinking luxury travel, and you're thinking quick getaway. You're more suited to this lifestyle than you might have realised."

"I was thinking quick getaway to a tropical island for a holiday, not running away from a crime," I argued.

"It's a fine line," he teased.

"I'm sure it is." I was about to find out, from the sound of it. "And what if I want to stay on this side of the law?" Knowing what they did and agreeing to take part in it were two very different things. Or were they? He was right about me being an accessory. The longer I stuck around with them, the deeper I got into an even more tangled web. The strands of this were stickier than Ice's cum on my thighs.

"Like I said, we could use help keeping our rivals out of our computer systems. If that's all you want to do, then that's all we'll ask of you, but I guarantee once you get a little taste for the illicit, you'll get addicted. Apart from our rivals, no one can touch us. We can do whatever we want, whenever we want, to whomever we want. We can go anywhere in the world and see things other people can only dream of. If you want front row tickets to Wolf Venom, you only have to ask."

"Is this where you tell me you kill people who have front row tickets and take it from them?" I asked. Wait, did I really want to know the answer to that?

He laughed and squeezed my ass a little tighter. "No, they're friends, remember? If it's another band you want to see, we can buy the label and make sure you get all the tickets you want. Or, you can hack in and get them yourself."

He made it all sound so easy and enticing.

I admit, front row tickets to any act, anywhere in the world did sound pretty fucking amazing.

"It's a lot to think about," I said. One minute I was a law-abiding citizen, the next I was contemplating breaking a bunch of laws just so I could go and see some good music. It would take more than a minute or two to decide if that was something I was going to do.

"There's no hurry," he said.

"Did you just study business to work for your father?" I asked.

"That, and so I can work for myself some day," he said. "Ares studied psychology so he can understand our rivals and how to manipulate people into doing what we want."

That was both disturbing and hot as fuck.

"And Ice? Didn't he study forensic pathology?" Did I really want to know about that?

"That's something you should talk to Ice about," Mannix said. "His kind of fucked up is better coming from his mouth than mine."

Chapter Nine

Ice

"Have you ever done tequila shots?" I had a bottle of tequila in one hand, some salt and a couple of limes in the other.
